Now what would have happened to a SRW truck towing an oversize RV and a rear wheel blew out? This van blew out a tire along I-85 in NC.

Fifteen passenger vans are known to be extremely unstable. I don't know what this has to do with the SRW versus DRW pickup debate.

All kidding aside, I would really like to drive 3 similar trucks back to back. One towing a 12,000 lb trailer with a dually, then switch to a SRW with 19. 5 Ricksons. Either choice will be more stable than a SRW with 16 or 17 inch wheels, I understand. But I would like to feel how MUCH of a difference there actually is from 16/17 to 19. 5 Ricksons, then between the Ricksons and the dually.

Yes, I know a dually is more stable and overall better than a 16/17 SRW truck for towing heavy... I didn't just fall off a SRW turnip truck, ya know!! :)

If you tow all the time then a dually is good. for once in a while like i do, my short bed truck does fine... I never worry about anything while I tow... as long as all things are good... :-laf

MC , I like your thinking. I will tell you that the difference is in night and day when I switched from stock 17" dually wheels and tires and my 19. 5 dually. I am sure switching to SRW wheel 19. 5s would be a great idea. Even Chevy several years ago produced a 3500HD dually with 19" style tires.

Before I purchased my current truck I took a dually out for a test spin. It was a solid and stable ride.

I couldn't fit it into the garage as easily as the SRW.
