Towing question - tire pressure/tongue weight

Whats wrong with these tires that they cant be used on anything that they will fit on? I have never used "trailer only" tires before on trailers and its been ok to do so as I have not had any problems.

My understanding is that the sidewalls are significantly stronger to deal with the side/side loads when turning a tandem axle trailer. Not sure why this would prevent them from being used on a car though.

I'm sure there is somebody here that can give a more detailed explanation.

latest issue of Trailer Life has an article on TT tires and maintenance that discusses the ST (special trailer) construction. unfortunately I just got in the mail yesterday and haven't read it yet.

DOT

Not totally sure here, but the "trailer use only" are not DOT rated, which is requied by law for carrying people. Construction wise, not sure of the differences.
