Turnaround ??

A quick trick you can do while on TDR,,

I've been asked this quite a bit since I bought my truck 2 years ago, so I thought I'd ask the board...

Why did you buy your truck?

I bought mine for:

Longevity

MPG

Ability (Power to spare)

I wanted a "bad a$$" truck

and because I like Rams.

It wasn't until after I bought it that I realized the potential these trucks have. I seriously did NOT buy the truck specifically to BOMB it or anything, I just wanted a diesel truck and I had good experiences with Rams in the past. I also had no idea of what I was getting into with regards to working on the thing myself, which has taught me more than I ever dreamed.

Ever since day one I like it more every time I drive it.

What's your story?

Duane,

I agree with what you said. I had never owned a diesel - let alone a Dodge - before. But after lots of shopping around I chose the Dodge because of the looks, the engine, the comfort, the reliability, the good mileage (compared to a gasser), and I've learned a lot about diesels since I bought it.

Even they didn't know it, the guys here on the TDR had a lot to do with my choice

As far as an inanimate object is concerned, I love this truck - it's the best I've ever owned - it's the most expensive, too.

I bought mine out of necessity. I pull horses and wanted to go up in the mountains more often. My '91 chev. 1500 was getting old and slow. I was forcing it to pull things it wasn't designed for. I knew I wanted a diesel, but the 6. 5 gm's were to crappy and the duramax was brand new. (I buy used to save $$) I didn't want a Ford cuz I just didn't and still don't like them. So I ended up with a Cummins. I used to travel through the state for work and on several trips I kept a log of all the pickups I saw pulling loads. Mostly oil field workers and ranchers hauling cattle/horses/hay. I was amazed at how many of them drove Cummins powered rams. I was sold and looked till I found this one. While looking for a truck on the net I stumbled onto the TDR, the rest is history. :D

I wanted a diesel truck, and at the time, Dodge had the only REAL diesel. I also wanted a truck that would last forever. I just never realized how fun these things could be. Now I want another one. :D (12V, of course).

I knew it would last,

I knew it would get good fuel mileage...

I didn't have ANY idea what I could do with/to it, or how fun it would be... :D

In high school a friend of mine borrowed his uncles pick up to go get a haybine and I went with him and that was my first impression of a Dodge with cummins engine in it, that was in 90 or 91. When it came time (95) and I needed a truck to pull trailer with of course it was a Dodge that I bought and I don't regret it even once. Dodge had the best looks when I first looked and I knew the reputation of it and that is all it took.

Drove truck

Drove truck for fifteen years and was in a trucking family all my life. When Dodge came out with a CTD, I wanted it. Had no use for V-8 diesels. That and all the reasons above and I am sold.

Why?

I have always wanted a diesel dually. I am a big guy, and in all reality, the rams are the only vehicle I've owned that had enough room for me. In addition, "Cummins" says it all!

I bought a Dodge because I couldnt keep the Chevy diesel out of the shop. I should have bought the Dodge first, but thats what I get for letting the wife have input on my truck buying decisions...

I just got a wild hair up my arse:eek: and did it. That hairs been up there 5 times on them Dodge/Cummings. Its starting to itch agin.

Oo. :) :D I bought my CTD for a few different reasons, 1 Just because it was a Dodge, 2 it is a Cummins,3 drove tractor trailer for a living and most of them had Cummins in them,4 my brother had 2 of them 5 I just loved the sound of the truck and it is the only real diesel out there in a pickup. I never thought I would belong to a organization like this one and and never pick up some many bad habits such as "BOMBing" but o well it just happened. The fuel mileage I got out of my gasser was only 9mpg no matter what I did so I had nothing to lose only to gain. I have learned a lot more bout diesels since I owned this truck.

6 Its just a bad A$$ truck with an oswam engine that you can do anything you want to it and get more power. I just love it. Oo. :cool: :D

I love the...

* sound of a diesel

* smell of diesel

* power of a diesel

* mileage over a gasser

* not limited to pull anything in the future!!

During a simple outing of looking at vehicles to find out what to get when I had some money and after I had a house... I looked at a Durango... not bad, like the looks but the pirce with it being loaded was a bit much... can't remember if I ever test drove one or not. I actually took a Dodge Dakota out on a test drive, not bad. After that, I had just wondered what it would be like to drive the dodge diesel. Well, I started out and drove a stick (knew I wanted a stick from the start) and at first, it seemed loud... then I realized that the door wasn't shut all the way. Well, I was quite impressed with being up high and loved the power. From that day, I knew what I was getting, only had to wait for almost 2 years before I could get it.

Was thinking this morning... if I somehow lost my job and it came to giving up the house or the truck, I think I'd give up the house first before the truck.

I heard one 11 years ago. I thought it was a semi truck. I turned around and it was a Dodge pickup!! I have always wanted one since. I've owned a couple of new trucks since then. A GMC and Ford gasser.

I really dont know why I just didn't buy one before last year. I shoulda done this along time ago. Its the neatest machine I have ever laid my hands on. The mere fact it has a turbocharger makes it way better than anything before it.

My dad bought a 92 shortly after he retired from the Fire Department. Every time we rode in it he talked about how much it reminded him of the power of driving the engines for the fire dept. Then he bought the one I have now. after he died and mom wanted to sell it I just knew I couldn't let anyone else drive dad's truck. I love everything about the truck and would even if it weren't for the memories, but nothing can replace the fact that it was his and the times we had together with it before he was gone.
