Funny you should mention this. Just today I took the wife to work since I have 4 wheel drive. Well it was snowing and my wipers kept getting snow buildup on them so it would smudge right in my line of sight. Kept having to reach out the window while driving, grab the wiper as it comes around, and pull up on it so it would smack against the window and knock the snow off. PITA. :(

Dude, we only get this weather for a few days every third year. ;) Seriously though I was driving to work this morning and my poor little feet were getting cold so I turned the heat to the floor... just for a minute. Next thing I know I'm trying to scrape the frozen rain off the windshield with the wipers. Even these cool heated wipers couldn't save me from my own ignorance.

The ones sold at Geno's work ok, but they just heat the blade, leaving the arm to freeze if it gets cold enough and wet enough. Plus the silicon blade they use leaves a film that's noticable in the rain, the passenger side blade (stock) doesn't do that.

If I had to do it over again I would just look for the old rubber boot type winter blade... . lot's cheaper.

But, if I saw a blade that heated both the arm assembly and the blade I might consider that.

DC has the heated grid in the windshield technology on some of their vehicles, because my Grand Caravan has it-don't remember how good it works-it does not snow here much...

The winter blades tend to lift off the glass because they catch too much wind. You need to add more spring if you use them.

It'd be nice if they had a cold weather package that would incorporate this kind of stuff. Maybe one day american cars can have the nice stuff the imports do. I'm sure interested now, after all this darn snow and driving to work everyday these would come in handy!

where can you find larger springs to use for these applications? I tink I know of a place where i can find some, but if you have a source let us know!

This doesnt help you but mercedes has the option for a heating grid on there front windshield on G-Wagon models. The wires are

much smaller and there are twice as many as a rear window defrost making them very hard to see unless you are looking close. Why no other companies offer this I dont know. Would

hate to see cost for replacement windshield though!

Wal Mart has the helper springs. At least that is where I think I found the set I have. I can't remember well.

I ended up doubling them up on the drivers side wiper. I do not use one on the passenger side. It does make a difference, but it will still raise some at high speeds (that is with winter blades).
