Even the few remaining countries we'd like to call our allies are dominated by societies that dislike us - what do YOU attribute that to?

Personally, as much as I prefer our "free enterprise", Capitalistic system to the Socialistic-based operations of many other countries, *I* feel that the steadily evolving "anything goes", "anything for a buck, and to Hell with those getting trampled in the stampede for the allmighty dollar" mindset of a corporate America that has lost it's ethics, compassion and conscience, has generated hatred abroad, and steadily growing in THIS country that is coming steadily home to roost...

What do YOU think?

I think American's have lost their ethics as you say. We are arrogant, obnoxious and rude. Just go to WalMart and see how many people stand in the middle of the isles and care less about anything around them, or people shooting at rescuers  .

Granted I think a small portion is like this but it is enough to make the country look very bad on the whole. Kind of like blood in the water, it only takes a little bit of blood to turn the water red.

I do not care what 3rd world countrys think of us(90% of europe). I just hope we do not become one of those 3rd world countrys. Many in this country seem hell bent to turn us into a Socialistic 3rd world country. They all hate america, but can not wait to get here.

There is no single answer to why some abroad have such a distaste, and any discourse attempting even to scratch the surface would make for a post prohibitively long (no one would read it).

But if I had to sum up one of the largest contributors in 1 sentence I'd say:

"Things starting going downhill as soon as the average American began to believe he is entitled to anything other than 'life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness'. "

GOOD POST :) :) :)

"They all hate america, but can not wait to get here. "

Yeah, but for all the basic reasons they HATE *us* for!

I too, used to think foreigners disliked us primarily out of envy - but have slowly come around to the realization that while many in other lands HATE the way our society exploits many in foreign lands, THEY would still like a piece of the pie for themselves - not fot the "love of mankind". but out of the same basic GREED that increasingly drives motivations of many here.

Most here are repulsed by the Mafia too, and the way they operate - but many still line up to join, not for the humanitarianism it possesses, but for the $$$$$$...

I often wonder if everyone hates us as much as some would lead us to believe. I am not blind to the fact that there are those who truly dislike us, but I think we once again get the news that sells. I would bet that most of the world really doesn't give a rats rump about us, at least on a daily basis. They like our tourist dollars, our aid dollars, and our military when needed, but for day to day, they probably don't think any more of us than we do of them. After all, a rally of 1000 in London that are saying bad things about the US is bigger news than the other however many Londoners who are not at the rally. It may be close minded, but I don't really worry too much about it, any more than what people think of Nevada because we allow gaming and prostitution! :-laf

AMink has it right. The question shouldn't be 'Why does the world hate us?" But rather why are we not told of those who love us? It is the Lefts news media complex that promotes and propagates these ideas. Why does CBS, ABC, NBC,and CNN hate the USA? And to try to inject logic, well that is what will make you crazy. Where would their freedoms of speech and the free press be without the ideals expressed in the constitution. If they had their way, they would be "eliminated". Read your history on what Stalin did with all his cronies that put him in power. I don't know how this current wave of America hate by americans (lower case intentional) will play out but be clear, they have an agenda, and its not American.

Because they read in the paper and hear on the alphabet stations that we are evil on every level. We rape the land, we're racist, we're taking over the Middle East, and so many other topics. I guess they feel in-line with the supposed majority and think they are right in doing so. I don't agree with their point, but thank God they have the right to put their point forward.

F... Them if they don't like us. The propaganda organizations (or as you know them, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, etc. . ) preach hatred of their own country everyday, is it any wonder that other people in other countrys think that we are devils.

Why can't the terrorist attack the ABC, NBC, or CBS buildings ... it would be a joy to see someone like Katie Corric or Ted Kopple have to jump to their death and have it broadcast on their own networks.

Ditto on the Amen! And its not just the alphabet Media Networks, it's also the N. Y. Times and the L. A. Times and lotsa other 'Times'. Also the Universities--they teach hatred of America, most of all White America. But look who came to the aid of all the poor black people in N. O. --mostly White Americans. Gee, maybe white folks aren't so bad after all!

It's very good to know that people are catching on and learning about the horrible Media bias of the last 45 years, and how it has helped destroy the hard-working, noble America some of us grew up in.

Also, it is not the little people in the foreign countries that hate us (except for the Islamic countries) Everywhere else the little people all can't wait to come to America! It is the elite of many countries who hate us. Jealousy is part of it--look at our success! No other country has ever in the History of the world been as successful in building prosperous well-informed citizens as the good old U. S. A. However the Liberal Media and Liberal Colleges have worked hard for 40 years or more to torpedo accurate education and accurate history and substitute the lies of the left--teaching the concept of America as bullying... corrupt... evil. I think the Liberals who teach innocent young people those lies are themselves bullying, corrupt and evil! I Love America!!

The bubble-headed bleach blonde comes on at 5,she'll tell you about the plane crash with a gleam in her eye, everybody wants to hear "Dirty Laundry" by the Eagles.

The media has reminded me of two guys thinking about fighting and theres this one weasel (media) aggravating the situation and can't wait to see it happen.

The fore fathers founded this country with God in mind and it seems to be a loss of interest anymore for so many.

I live by a code of what goes around comes around, and if it does not happen in this life it will in the next. :)

I'd think that we became less "great" as a nation when we we started trying to achieve utopia.

Europe beat us to it, and is declining or has declined sooner than we have. If we follow their lead towards socialism, we will follow it into irrelevance.

There are some that hate America because of religious reasons and what we represent. After all, how can the Muslim look around him and make sense of his poverty (but he has followed Islam) while America has become the wealthiest nation in human history doing the very things his religion tells him is evil?

There are some who hate America because they think it's not fair that it is wealthy while so much of the world is in want. It's the same old rhetoric of ill-gotten gains (we stole the Indians land, we rape and pillage the world for our own gain, etc).

Some hate us because we represent all that they, too, COULD be, if it weren't for corruption or some such.

For the most part, it's just inevitable that when you are the richest guy in the neighborhood, and you have a disproportionate amount of power, people will resent you. Even if you are the reason that they are fairly well off themselves.

People resent CEOs that are wealthy-- even if they are employees of the company that the CEO led to greatness, giving the employee job security, promotion, and a better life in the process.

It said that people love to be popular, and wouldn't want to be hated-- but a lot of people will be eager to change places with a "hated

person, if they got to have their money and power.....

It is important to remember that outside of a small number of religious extremists, there are very few people that actually HATE the United States. There are many who despise us, and many who envy us, and that may flavor their worldview, but truly there are very few people out there who want to see Mr. and Mrs. America dead and gone. Most folks who have travelled the world much will agree with me, I think. Hate is fortunately a fairly rare commodity.

We in America have had great good fortune to have been born here, and the accident of our birth leads some of us to have a fairly arrogant and self-inflated worldview. Few Americans ever sit down to THINK about what their life would be like if they had been born in Iraq or Ethiopia, instead of the USA - or how their options might have been much more severely limited than what they enjoy here. We judge other nations and their peoples by our own standards, and never stop to think that in THEIR circumstance we are setting a standard that is impossible to live up to.

Accordingly, it is important to understand when we look at the geopolitical picture that the USA will INEVITABLY accrue a certain amount of resentment. No point in apologizing for the being the best of course, but because we ARE in the catbird seat we perhaps should go out of our way to set the standard and show more compassion and understanding to those on the other side of the pond than what we receive in turn. This is precisely what our leaders have tried to do for decades, with varying amounts of success. Doing the right thing is never easy, but it is the American way.

Finally, when it comes to the interaction of nations, their actions may SEEM to be based on hatred of the USA, but in most cases they are working simply to further the interests of their own country. Nations do not have friends, only allies - and those alliances are often fleeting. To expect nations to act in any way except pure self-interest is unrealistic at best, folly at worst.

All that said, of course France STILL sucks! :D :D :D
