Anyone have any "junked" 5.9 parts?

nasa vs diesel soot

I just read that the Bush administration is considering making an agreement with the Environmentalist Lobby - to make all vehicles under 10,000 GVW meet the same emission standards AND CAFE as well!

THIS IS FROM THE SIERRA CLUB WEBPAGE!!!!!!

I'll tell you folks - the Republicans are taking us for granted - afterall they know we'll not vote Democratic! Well - I just might fool them and Bite Off my NOSE to spite my Face! I'm almost ready to support anybodY the Democrats offer over being taking FOR GRANTED!!! AND I Know the arguments - it's that the Republicans are so worried about making compromises that they'd sell their grandmother to get relected!

OK - Off The soapbox!!!!!

My biggest beef is that as gassers age their emissions go up dramatically because of failing control equipment. Diesels stay relatively flat over their lifespan.

Like I've said before... I'm more likely to vote for the candidate who's most likely to leave me the $#^& alone. They all bow down to special interests. I'm not loyal to one party over another. They're both susceptible to sell outs. On the other hand, I'm not against clean air and I'm willing to do my part even if someone else isn't. That and I'm not against owning a dually either to be above 10k GVWR. Just watch how fast the big three bump their 3500 SRW trucks to 10,100 lb GVWR. :D

I didn't see the word "diesel" anywhere in that article.

Here in Texas, we recently went to strict dyno style emissions testing for gas powered vehicles... but diesels are still smog exempt... In California there isn't even a safety inspection for diesels!

it's very easy to quickly "detune" our trucks to the point where they don't emit any smoke for an inspection.

I, for one, am not worried... but you won't catch me in a gasser any time soon either!

Cheer up; just means your favorite Ram 2500 will have a 10100 GVW.

We saw this repeatedly in the 1970s; they would raise the weight to which the DEQ rules applied and the truck makers would raise the GVW or the trucks.

First off, someone please tell me what is conservative about the Republican party???????? This business with the EPA? The education bill Bush sponsored with Ted (Dewar's White Label) Kennedy, Or how about the amnesty Bush wants to give to illegal immigrants????? Try voting for the U. S. Constitution Party next go around. Bush is light years better than Gore would have ever been but that does not make him a conservative. There are more than 2 political parties out there... ... ..... take a closer look. (and I'm not talking about the Green Party either) ;) Anyway, get ready for a Cummins with an EGR system and urea injection as well as more emissions testing . :(

Yup, lots to validly complain about; the republican party is NOT standing up to its traditions. BUT. it still beats throwing away your vote, which incidentally ends up being a half a vote for the demo candidate.

Vaughn

I know - but it really ticks me off that

they take us for granted - PERIOD! They'll do everything to go after the minority vote - illega or not - and only pay lip service to us..... AND don't forget - those big business guys don't give a darn about your job - if they could transfer what you do overseas for a lower cost - by George they'd do that in a minute!

Voting for a candidate who does not pursue your political beliefs is what I call the definition of throwing your vote away. From what I have seen of the Republicans lately (with some exceptions); there is not so much difference in the legislation they pass or the judges they appoint. Just take a look at the record of Sandra Day O'Connor. Antonin Scalia is more of my concept of a conservative. The true conservatives such as Dick Armee have retired from politics and office because of the liberal, leftward drift of the Republican party. Maybe if enough folks like me "throw away" our votes on the U. S. Constitution Party and somebody like Al Sharpton or Wesley Clark (a. k. a. Bill Clinton Jr. )gets elected; this will wake up the lazy trash that never vote or only sometimes vote. Better yet, maybe someone fron the USC party will get elected (highly unlikely but beats voting for the same party that keeps giving the same sorry lip service) I have had voting for the lessor of 2 evils as I have done so many times (believing the BS about throwing away my vote). Maybe I have been throwing it away all along and need to stop and cast it for a candidate that at least attempting to be a conservative.

"All that is needed for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. "

Edmund Burke

With respect to throwing away my vote this passage was very well spoken by one of the founding fathers and just seems tailor fitted to this discussion. :D

"Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote!"

I did exactly that in the 92 election - voted on the 3rd party candidate that was more in line with my thinking at the time. What did I get from it? Bill Clinton - and people STILL didn't learn their lessons. Sorry, been there done that once and got burned. Don't see myself doing it again any time soon. I'd love to be able to vote for a candidate I believe in rather than the lesser of 2 evils - but if that's what it takes it's what I'll do. Usually I get the opportunity to at least vote my conscience in the primary - maybe one of these days one of my candidates will win the primary.

That being said I think Bush has done a great job. Although he wasn't my choice in the primary he's done much better than I expected him to. I don't like all of his policies and he is too far towards the middle for my tastes but he's definately better than any of the democratic candidates coming up.

I haven't totally discounted "W" just yet. I voted for him and I figure that gives me a right to b!tch a little about some of the stuff he has done or is planning on. ;) He has done a lot of good things too. If he gives amnesty to illegal aliens; that is a deal breaker and just lost my 2004 vote. Reagan did it and I NEVER forgave him for it. Up until very recently, "W" was ignoring the vetran's and active duty soldier issues, but has since gotten his act together. Lately he has been trying to "out Liberal" the Dems with his health care bill, and I suppose he needs to do this to get the votes to get elected.

I am gonna wait and see. I strongly believe he will be parading Osama around before long and maybe that will give him the political latitude to move towards the right where he belongs. If I get the impression that the Republicans are taking my vote for granted; I will certainly "throw it away". When the Republicans fielded the Dole/Kemp ticket; I did just that. Remember Jack Kemp... ... ..... the original give the country away to the Mexicans with his campaign against prop. 187?

Conservatives never seem to learn , that NO MATTER what they do for the Liberals, it will gain them zero votes... . but loses them votes they already had.

Bush could have given the libs everything they wanted and gained nothing.

You cannot work with them, you have to push whats good for the country right over top them, stand up for what you belive in, otherwise, we will have 8 years of a sawed off little madman name of Dean.

If anyone should be compared to Hitler, it would be that cat!

I'm in agreement with you guys.

Anyone else think we should finish this topic at least 30 days before the next election?

Maybe soon we won't be able to say it here!!

The way I vote is --if they are in office , one term is enough. --

They get too much power, just look at the lifers now.

I hope Dean doesn't have enough time to recover from Gores endorsement!!!!!

I say our president should be elected for one (1) six year term--then out forever. Members of Congress & House of Representatives elected for two (2) four (4) year terms & out forever. No "Golden parachute" lifetime health insurance & retirement pay in the form of full salary either. I can't afford to pay all these polititions for life!!
