Help- I bought a Tekonsha Sentinel brake controller and have wired it per the drawings and the drawings in my Mopar service manual and have blown 2 fuses. I have checked and rechecked and can't find a problem. Now I am afraid to put in my last fuse.
I vaguely remember reading posts about these controllers and something about not going by the wire colors. Is there something I am missing here?
I really would like to get this working tomorrow so I can try out my newly built trailer.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
David

I have the same brake controller. The wire colors do not match up. There was a small piece of literature with it that gave the proper colors for the Dodge, different for the Ford and Chev. As I recall there was no diagram for the Mopar. . just the text. I can't find the paper. Darn. If you can't find yours I will go out and try and figure it from mine. The literature that explains this was not the one that tells how to set the gain etc. That one I have.

OK,here is how mine is wired. It seems to be working fine.
Controller #ad
ark Blue to Pickup BLUE
Controller:WHITE TO Pickup BLACK
Controller:RED TO Pickup WHITE
Controller:Black to Pickup RED
Sure wish I could find the literature but mine works wired like the above.
I do have the factory Trailer ,setup with the factory pigtail that plugs into the Molex type connector under dash. The wires on the pigtail are what I called Pickup in above . Hope that helps

Here is the match up of the wires for 1999 Dodge: To trailer brakes, from truck-Lt. blue, to controller-blue. 12 volts, from truck- red/tan, to controller, black. Stop light, from truck-white, to controller-red. Ground, from truck- black, to controller-white. This is from the pigtail that comes with the trailer tow package to the Tekonsha controller. If I can be of further assistance, e-mail me. bg

I bought the harness that makes use of the OEM hook up...

Now, I ordered my 2001. 5 w/o the Tow Pkg, becuase I wanted a beefier hitch, which meant mine came w/o the trailer wiring. HOWEVER IT DID HAVE THE CONNECTOR AND ONLY THE BLUE BRAKE WIRE WAS NOT CONNECTED.

I installed the Mopar 7pin trailer wiring kit, pluging in the harness sans the blue wire, which I directly connected to the controller.

If you're certain the wiring is done correctly have you traced the wire looking for shorts?

Hi Guys- Thanks for the help! I followed your advice and wired it up. No blown fuses. Now, my controller green light flashes rapidly. Paper says this is either a dead short or too much current or battery too low. I can't win for losing. I did it all real nice- all wires crimped perfectly, correct fittings, etc.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
David
