I've got an '01 ETH with a PE Compand an HX-40, and I HAD BD IV's in, but I've blown 5 head gaskets with these, so now I'm back to my stock injectors. I've tried using studs instead of bolts, a thicker head gasket, and none of these worked. The last one blew out the front and the others have blown out of #6. I don't think that the head or the block is warped because the head gasket is not blowing in the same place everytime. Why is everyone else able to run bigger injectors without o-ringing and not have this many problems? I ran DDIII's before and never had any problems whatsoever. As soon as I went to BDIV's, I had to start changing head gaskets. The engine that I'm on now is actually a new engine with about 2,500 miles on it. It's a remanufactured engine, straight from Cummins. I got to change head gasket on the other one once before a piece of the head went through # 6 and embedded itself in the piston, and the only thing that I've done to this new engine is change head gaskets.

Are IV's just too much? I don't tow anything, I just "race. " I don't understand why the DDIII's never caused any problems but the additional 20 HP from the BDIV"s would cause the head gasket to blow within 500-750 miles.

I don't why you are blowing so many headgaskets, but it sure sounds like you are a good canidate for the O-ring tool.

Everytime time I take mine up to 45 psi's of boost I cringe, wondering if this will be the time  . I only have 18,000 on the truck. The first 2000 were stock, at 3,000 the BD 3's and the HX40 went in, at about 7,000 the 5's went in. I know I'm on the short list, when it goes I plan on having Auto Wurks O-ring the head. I don't recall any member blowing headgaskets after the O-ring job, may be wrong  .
