I just installed the upgrades listed in my signature into the 98 12v ram.

First, it feels like the truck pulls harder and faster at half throttle than at full throttle. Why?

Second, the 95 ram feels much faster than the 98. I understand that the 98 is a quad cab, thus heavier. The 95 has a #4 plate vs. a #8 plate in the 98. The 95 has laser cut delivery valve vs. the stock 181s in the 98. However, the 98 has a larger turbo and larger injectors? What gives.

Thanks

Jeff

I updated my signature but, it isn't showing up yet so here are the specs:

'98 2500 4x4 Auto QC long bed: II SPS 62/14, II 370s phase 3, #8 plate, 4000 gsk, Suncoast complete billet transmission, HD valve springs, AFE 2 intake, Rip Rook 4" exhaust.

Probably because of the profile of the plate. The farther forward the governor arm can move, the more fuel you get. Haven't seen both plates, so I'm not sure what the profiles look like on those plates.

True, it is heavier, but not enough to notice.

Did you install the mods that were on the '95 on to the '98?

The #4 plate fuels more than the #8. The biggest part on how hard the '95 is faster, is probably the lag from the turbo. I have the same one, and it can be very laggy. But, once mine lights up, the truck realy takes off.

Also, do both trucks have the same gears in the differentials? A truck with 3. 55s will be faster than one with 4. 10s, given the same power level and response.

Well, the 3. 55 will be faster overall, but the 4. 10 will have much more acceleration. Not to be a d1ck, I had to point that out heh.

Sounds like bmoeller is right tho, the 95 has more fueling. . the DVs are a big help.
