I'm a new member and I'm just curious why the magazine isn't available online. I guess if back issues were available it might cut into the revenues from orders but it seems like it would save a ton of publishing costs too.

I don't know all of Robert's reasons but I know some of them. First only about half of the subscribers to the magazine use the website - so all of those plus many of the online users would want the print version. Second if it's available online then people can also easily make copies to distribute to friends, etc thus reducing revenues significantly.

Open Issue

We get this question 3 - 4 times per year. We do not have plans to put the current issue online at any point; I'm sorry. But we are considering ways to publish more critical articles (reference-type material) online for TDR Members. I don't see this happening for a while yet, but it is on our goals list. I have big concerns about bandwidth usage if we have a tremendous amount of material online for download. The sheer cost of bandwidth could be an impediment, but much more research is needed.

This is a good suggestion, and while we may not publish the current issue(s), I do think we will find ways to put more of the technical material online for users to access electronically.

How about a small charge for the info based on the bandwidth used. Kinda like a extra value added service pay as you use it kind of thing

Is it really that much trouble to flip through a magazine to find an article? Good grief.

I don't think the magazine should be online either for the reasons listed above. I look forward to getting the quarterly magazine and probably wouldn't continue to be a member if they didn't offer it. That's one of the things that sets us apart from the free sites like the DTR.

Also, any technical information about these trucks that you could ever dream of can easily be accessed through the search feature.

we're missing the point

If it's online how can you read it in the bathroom!

It would be nice to reference the technical articles in some sort of online archive

keep up the great work

I would like to see a cd rom available that would have all the back issues. Many times back issues are refered to, and newer memebers such as myself have nothing to look up.
