New 09 or wait for 2010

I was wondering why dodge is so late getting the new '10 models out, typically the new models come out in september, its almost november. they had a head start by making the 4th generation in the half ton last year, all they had to do is change out the springs and axles and put in a different powertrain, sounds like something dodge could have put together right away and been testing all this time, so it could be out now. I wonder if they were worried about getting rid of all the '09's first. I sure hope the MPG, ball joints and u joints are better and different on these trucks.

steve st laurent, I wish you would have asked them if the ball joints and u joints were still going to suck on these new trucks.

Not sure... . But the dealership I go to has a lot full of 2009's. They said it's the economy... . I say it's the 6. 7 under the hood. A few months back there were quite a few 2006/2007 5. 9l's around for sale and now there is hardly any. I'm not knocking the 6. 7's but they did get off to a rocky start. I'd like to see someone do a 2010 with a 5. 9l swap!

My dealer said "waiting to see what Ford was doing" as they have been able to order them for a bit but had no pricing and some options kept changing, mine was $400 less than the same 09 so I'm not complaining yet :-laf

Well my dealer did not get pricing till last Fri (23rd), my truck was ordered Sat morning. He has 2 2010 2500s in que for the lot and my 3500 they are all showing the same status order accepted.

I'll be sure to update when they change status to assigned a VIN

Called to check up on it now, I've moved up in status! but not to D1 so no VIN or ETA. It would be nice if they got it out the door before they shut down in Dec but I'm not holding my breath. :-laf

there is likely more truth to that then most people want to admit, I know its the reason I am keeping my '06 for the foreseeable future, when in the past I upgraded to a new truck every 4 years. who wants a new truck that gets alot less fuel mileage and likely has more issues due to emissions?? that and the fact all my ball joints and u joints are new on my '06 and I don't feel like replacing all that stuff in a new truck.

I watched those videos in the another thread, I sure wish in large gatherings like that with big wigs from dodge that someone would ask them "do the ball joints and u joints still suck on these new trucks" in front of everyone.

I ordered mine on September 23, and it has only made it as far as "order accepted" as well. I talked to my dealer yesterday, and they said that "probably the end of December" would be pretty close. https://www.turbodieselregister.com/images/smilies/mad.gif

Sure is tough to wait - was hoping it would be my Christmas present to myself. Then I could spoil myself with "New Years" presents like the mats, steps, and all the other "must have" junk that we just can't live without. https://www.turbodieselregister.com/images/smilies/hihi.gif

I would say it has more to due with the bankruptcy proceedings, extended shut downs and change in ownership. They weren't exactly operating under normal operating conditions the better part of the year. The dealer lots around here (Denver) have been quite empty for some time, certainly not much of a selection for what is out there. One of the reasons the NADA value of my 2004. 5 has gone UP over $2k the last few months (appx $18k in June to appx $20. 5k currently).

they had to wait for our tax dollars to get deposited before they could purchase the parts to build them:-laf

that's why Ford trucks are on the lots, they didn't have to wait:D

wish it was Dodge making it without bailout money instead of Ford, I buy a new Dodge in a heartbeat to show my supportOo. No way I'm going to buy a Ford (I have my wife's F-350 to pour money in)

so for now I'll just keep driving my 01:)

With the economy being what it is and Chrysler's bankruptcy I'm not surprised.

As far as ball joints and u joints, I have never had any problems in the two Dodge trucks I've had and I don't see many others having a problem, except by people that abuse their truck.

I think that is because of the low mileage 6. 7 engines, the used trucks are priced off the map, I don't know if they are selling or not but the last I looked I saw '03 and 04 models used asking price was 22-25k, new the trucks were 32k if you bought it right, that is not enough depreciation to make me buy.

as to the ball and u joints, if you think guys are having trouble and only because they abused their trucks, you haven't been reading many posts.

I read all post and the folks with bad U joints and ball joints are usually the ones that install lift kits and oversized tires or those that abuse their trucks.

I don't have a lift and dont abuse my truck except for driving on crappy roads. in 140k i havehas to replace the ball joints twice, I have the carlie ball joints now so we will see how they hold up.

ball joints in my 01 were gone at near 50,000. The truck is stock and the track bar is still original OEM. U joints are fine. Put Moog ball joints in and they are still tight at 135,000
