While my 19 year old son was driving us back from my daughters volley ball game 130 mile away he hit on why we at least I love my Cummins. We had been driving for about 70 miles with the Cummins just purring at 2100 rpm when he says "you know given enough fuel I think this truck would be perfectly happy doing this all the way to the moon". Couldn't have said it better myself. No wonder he's my hero!!

Isn't Winnemucca about half way to the moon? The young man is correct. By the way, I am having a hard time with four Ford owners I fish with. They are getting uppty since that pickuptrucks.com report came out.

I live 26 mi. from town, that's 54 or so by the time I'm done, far too short of a trip. I make every excuse to drive to Whitehorse (235 mi. ) anytime of the year, still to close. I like the way your son put it, he's right! Paul

AKDrifter, isn't it about 600 miles or so to fairbanks, nice little warm up run.

I stopped in Winnemucca once and thought, "what do these kids do here"?

I guess they drive 130 miles to a volleyball game.

Beautiful there, I am just kidding.

Right by bonneville. Might be some events for speed fans. If your vehicle trackes straight on that section of interstate you could take a nap!

Yeah some parts of that country you drive 100 miles turn right go 100 miles turn left. You can clear the top of a hill and see the highway go accross the valley and straight up the other side.

You otta try US50 across NV. You top a hill and look at about 20 miles of straight road ahead of you. No cars in sight. If something is on the road it is most likely a cow.

US50

We used to tour on our bike a lot, came across US 50 out of Ely one time. Stopped at a small store and gas station about half way to Utah. There was this poor fella from NY there, who came in from the east. He was talking a hundred miles an hour to EVERYBODY, "I usually go to see my daughter in Calif and take the Interstate southern route, I will never come this way again. What happens if you break down out there?" Poor guy, some people don't like the wide open spaces. The wife and I love that sort of thing... :D I will tell ya though, it gets nerve racking between fuel stops though, had about a 150 mile range without a headwind. Pushing that a few times. :D
