I've had my 03 for sale now for 2 weeks and have had no phone calls what gives?? Its listed in the autotrader (truck trader) and I have it priced less than others in my area. (300 miles) I also took off all the extras listed below and put it back to stock. Now what ?? Is my price to high , 28,900? Ive never had this problem when selling vehicles in the past. I cant believe this truck is that hard to sell, its darn near perfect w/only 37k miles. . Any suggestions would help. I know some one will ask so . . Im selling as Im building a new house. I Love it but its gotta go. .

Thanks Tom.

Wow !! mine says 28,300 for private party for my area. I said 28,900 for room to negotiate. Wholesale here is 25,XXX.

I don't know the market or economy there, and that might be slowing you down. Here in SoCal I'd see it going for 25-28, in fact a friend of mine would be looking for something like that. Not many good used deals on CTD's out there right now. At 29K, I might rob a couple of stores to get the extra 5K to buy a new one though, mr crimefighter :D .

It took several weeks to sell my '03, hardly got a call for a long time. It was a loaded SLT with leather, HO, 4x2 shortbed, only got $24k with 34,000 miles. With rebates and all people aren't going to buy a used truck when they can get a new one for $3-4K more, and doing the paperwork is more convenient at a dealership.

Buying a new rig then unloading it a year or two later is a killer financially, pretty hard to not lose quite a bit. Some do pretty good though, it depends on your luck, location and how you advertise it.

I got ZERO responses from the local paper and Auto Trader, all responses were from TDR ad.

The NEW can be 10k more money and financing is at 0 percent/3. 5/6/ etc. depends on credit history and all that good stuff. Used can be twice/thrice as high. At or near the same price as new used can be rough to sell.

You guys bring up some good points as far as financing and the %'s. I just figured if I was near or under NADA and kelly blue book it would have sold by now. . As far as the TDR classifieds I didnt think they got that much traffic. I really dont want to trade in but it would help with the taxes as I would be going down in truck and I would pay none. .

Should I keep my present truck at no additional cost and pay $2. 63. 9/gallon for fuel, or should I buy a new truck for $28,000 and pay $2. 63. 9/gallon for fuel... ?

Could I buy your Linex since you put it back to stock?! ;) :D

Seriously though, I hope it sells soon. Houses are definitely first priority.

You could try Ebay. If it doesn't sell, all you're out it the listing fee.

Thanks for the laugh Hawk, Good Idea on eBay though. Ill drop the $ and give it a bit longer on truck trader first. I also listed here on TDR now that Vaughn says it works

Your price is way too high. You can get a new truck with a 7yr/100,000 warranty for 1 or 2K more. With the finance deals the way they are, the monthly payment would actually be less buying new.

Yep, out this way, why buy used when you can get new for pretty much nothing down as long as you have a heartbeat! Just paid off my 03 this week , all mine now! Oo. A rule of thumb I use is expect to get about 65-75% of private book value when selling locally, provided your buyer can get financed in the first place.

I bought my 03 dually a year ago with 9000 miles for $30k. I believe your price is too high. But, on the other hand, I've NEVER got good results with auto trader. I do better with the newspapaer or eBay.

A 4x2 in Minn is going to be slower to sell. Also, you said you put it back to stock. Does that include the hood and exhaust. According to my son a Dodge salesman in Milwauke, folks will avoid trucks with signs of mods and want 4x4 first. Good luck though, it will sell.

My experience is that the on-line used vehicle pricing tools tend to over-price by quite a bit. Also, you have a standared output which means you have the 47RE auto. Astute buyers will deduct for these too. When you say "I am building a new house", does that mean you are doing the work? If so, it seems that it would be smarter to wait till the house is done to sell the truck. Also, if you drop the truck price too much, you don't gain much financially as I assume you still need some kind of transportation. Decisions, decisions. Good luck.

SO does not automatically mean 47RE, it depends on the build date. I have a '03 SO with a 48RE, this has also been reported incorrectly in the TDR issue 47 on page 45.

I bought my used 03 recently.

I was looking for a 4x4 HO only. Took me a while to find one.

There were plenty of SO's out there though.

Yea mine is 4 wheel and when I put it back to stock the hood and exhaust came off and plan on selling seperatly. The only thing not orginal is the linex liner and tinted windows. A friend of mine just bought an 05 out here and sticker was 42k. He got it for 38k.

I should make out ok regardless as I have alot of equity in this truck. When I bought it I had a friend that was a dealer that hooked me up on my last couple of truck deals putting me ahead of the game. I just dont want to give it away.

So just for some clarity ,what should I ask ? I looked at what others were asking for thiers and put mine lower as to sell. As I mentioned before I also checked KBB and Nada and have mine priced at the low end of both. Im just dissapointed is all , this is a beautiful truck and cant believe no calls. .

I feel for you. I'm sort of int he same boat. I love my 03, but the new house project seems endless (both time and money) and I sort of wish I hadn't bought a new truck when I did. I really don't want to sell it because I know it would be a big loss...
