Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Why Wouldn't the starter engage ????

Today, after finishing up a job, I went to start my 98 4x4 auto up and head on to the house. Well, while in park, the starter would not engage at all. I could not even hear the usual clicking noise that is evident when the battery is low, or their is a starter problem etc... . After checking to make sure I did not leave the lights on, I decided to take it out of park and put it back in - thought maybe their was some interlock that was not making contact. Still had the same problem. I finally took the lever all the way through the selections down to 1st gear and back up to the neutral position, and she started right up.



I guess my question is " has anyone else experienced anything like this"? When I got to the house, I could not get the truck to repeat the problem... .



Any advice would greatly be appreciated.

Might be an intermittant problem with the park switch since you were able to start it in neutral.....

Just have to hold your tounge the right way... ... . hehe

Mine did this also once. you may not believe it but all the bolts were loose on the starter. tightened and worked ever since.
