GM 6.2 Engine Weight?

Has anybody ever had a Diesel Outboard???

UPS Stinks!

They bust everything that I get from them!! The only thing that would be safe with UPS is pig iron!!! If it says FRAGILE, it is just worse...

General rule when shipping ANYTHING with ANYBODY.

Pack it for a 12 foot drop and a 30 foot roll.

When I lived and worked in Estes Park, it always cracked me up to see the UPS or Fed Ex guy pull up to the receiving area, and not one thing was on the shelves in their truck. Just a huge mound on the floor. Everything fell off the shelves on the way up the mountain.

I bought a T-Case from a fellow TDR Member (roger rodbolt) and 2. 5 hours before my destination, it was lost. Now I wish we would have insured for more than we did. :D

Oh well. Roger rodbolt has been very helpfull, and sent me an insurance check, even though UPS has not re-imbursed him, and is taking their sweet time about the ordeal.

Fed-Ex now.

Strangely enough, we've had better service out of UPS, no complaints. We've been on the receiving end of a few FedEx packages shipped to the house, they NEVER rang the doorbell, my dog never even "alerted" to them... . they'd just sneak up, stick a note on the door, and sneak off. Third time on the last one, I was waiting for them. Or rather, my dog, Dixie, was. :D The lady was nice about her torn pants leg, but I practically had to rip the package out of her hands! (she had a sticker all ready to go, too !) They must have a quota to meet on how many of those stickers they can leave on your door. Next thing you know, FedEx will be changing the glue on the stickers to where you need a razor blade to get them off the glass... .

UPS does smash the boxes, we've received a few that needed maple syrup, Aunt Jemima woulda been mighty proud.

These were all RESIDENTIAL packages in the past, mind you, we get top-notch business service every time these days. :D

I'm very lucky. . I get GREAT service from UPS but lousy service from Fed EX and Airborne , go figure . .

In fact I see the same driver all the time [ I'm very rural ] my wife does a ton of catalog shopping :( as we live 25 min. to the closest small community and the shopping there is very limited... . we have become friends and he is very impressed with the Cummins and always ask questions.

If I have damaged items it's do the handling before our guy see's it... he even covers stuff up with a tarp I leave hidden outside [so the wife won't get cranky] for him in snow or rain weather... how about this . . he even watches out for bad guys entering the neighborhood that don't belong up our private road if we leave the gate up during snow storms... . he ran off a couple up to no good a year ago... they "found" a new rural dump on our road and he stopped 'cause he didn't recognize the car on our road and cell phoned the Sheriff.

of course at X-mas time I leave a case of beer for him and the trash guys ... . never have a trash issue either LOL

I always have my UPS deliveries to a friend's business.

My wife has her's delivered at the school where she works.

I think the key is if someone is there to greet them and accept/reject the package it comes in much better shape.

Pay for the insurance and it will prolly get there in better shape. Sounds like the Mafia protection racket doesnt it.

UPS :)

It bothers me to hear all the bad things about UPS... . they are the best carriers in this area anyway! Fedex is always one to two days longer delivering from the same company, I have watched them asking directions many times. Cumminspower98 who lives just up the road has had fedex deliver to the house down the street from him TWICE!! and his house is numberd!! he checks online and it says "deliverd" and so he has to go down and get the package from the guy down the street.

I have never had a packed killed by UPS ... maybe not perfect condition. . but not mangled. the postal service is another story... they have raped killed and left for dead packages before. . never send a box USPS ... but on the other hand I am sure some get great service from them too... so... . the moral is... deliver it yourself. LOL

sorry for the long rant... I just like UPS way better!

Jim

P. S. UPS is always on time here, I have even had then deliver early... . acourding to the online tracking

I have mixed emotions about all of the carriers. Lost a few packs thru Fedex and UPS both. Although, when my Big Exhaust 5" kit came a few weeks ago it came UPS and no dings or bent edges at all.

I read somewhere the US Postal Service shoots for a 98. 8% accuracy rate in delivery. That sounds pretty good but this article went on to say that means they can loose more than 800,000 pieces of mail daily and still meet their benchmark!! :D
