Howdy all!

I have come to terms with my attempt at 4 wheel drive conversion to my D250. I have given up on the addition of a live front axle and have concetrated on improving the virtues of my clean D250 to help it move in the mud and snow. It already has a sure grip out back.

I found an affordable aggressive tire with good reviews (Hankook Mud Terrain). The problem was that my 6" rim needed to be 7. 5" wide for the 265/75 16's. No Problem. I had my buddy widen them as he did the ones on the back of my 66 Charger 10 years ago. The backspace was maintained with all the widening done out front. This is where the room is in the fender.

I am very happy with the result. I will keep posting the performance of these. I just love the 'before' and 'after' shots. Now I guess I'll be searching for some dog-dish caps and trim rings since my original 15" lids with adapter rings no longer fit.

Thanks! I like them too! My wife, however, doesn't share in my enthusiasm. I was sooo excited to get these babies on. I drove it out of the shop and into the driveway and she went out see what I had been up to. She said, "Okay, nice. Whatever... . "

Gosh, I need this group!!! :D

100 mile tire update

So far these tires are relatively quiet. I was told they would have a significant road whine when I bought them. I explained to the salesman that I had a First Gen Cummins and I wouldn't hear it. :-laf I can barely hear a whine if I have my window down and I'm driving next to a wall.

Looks good. Another option is the Accuride Steel Rims found on some fords. They are 16" x 7" wide and fit our trucks perfectly. Some of the Pickups came from the factory with 265/75R16 Tires on these rims as well.

Look for them on E series Vans and Pre Superduty Pickup Trucks.

I've got Weld Racing 16x10s on the rear of the 91. 5 with Goodrich 285 Mud Terrain tires for traction and load capacity (3750lbs each, makes duals unnecessary). Work fine. Your stock steel wheels carried a 3050 or so weight rating so you're getting more traction, but can't carry more. The chassis cab models such as I have use the same Dana 70 as the duallys on SRW applications so can carry 7500lbs on the rear, but getting a tire and wheel combination for 3750lbs is not easy.

I have a set of the older style 37x12. 5x17LT Goodyear MT/Rs on 17x9 ProComp 1069s (cast aluminum)... the wheels have a rating of 3420lb and the tires are rated at 3525lb (that's actually the newer style's rating... don't know the old style's rating off hand). I doubt I'll top 6840lb anytime soon! :D
