Need some experienced input please. I have a 2004. 5 3500 QC 4X4 (auto trans) that has three times done something strange. While driving between 60 and 70mph, all the gauge needles have dropped toward zero, come back up immediately and a chime sounds. It first occurred with about 6300 miles on the odometer, again at about 7800 and thirdly at about 9200 miles. Once I was towing and twice I wasn't. No apparent loss of power when this happens. I've had it back to the dealer and they think it is some sort of short but can't find anything wrong. Also, no error code logged. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Mine has chimed if I have put my hand on the key, I have not noticed if the guages go to zero or not. The key seems very sensitive.

I agree with Bert... try wiggling the key and see if you can make it happen. If you can, then it's in the ignition switch. I know mine is sensitive, and I've been able to make the gauge cluster "ding" by playing with the key too much.

I can turn my key slightly off and everything shuts off but the engine. Done it since day one, I plan on replacing the lock cylinder switch, but its kind of cool to do this:D
