Hello again,

So I was changing all my rocker cover gaskets yesterday and decided to change my fuel filter while I was at it. BTW, I just bought a new fuel/h2o separator from Cummins. After the new filter went on, the WIF light has been on every since. I even drained the crap out of that filter with the little drain valve, and that hasn't done anything. The light is still on. Should I worry? Is there anything I can do about it?

Did you prefill the fuel filter prior to install, did you touch the WIF sensor probes- two metal prongs, did you unplug the sensor and not forget to plug it back in? Bill

I didn't prefill the filter because I don't have any spare diesel fuel, and my manual prime on the lift pump doesn't work, so I just have to run the engine to fill it back up. I don't know if I touched the metal prongs or not, and I did unplug it to get the filter off, then unscrewed the separator. I plugged it back in though. I even unplugged it again and blew into the connections and plugged it back in to no avail.

it's still on. I even drained it again. Can't get it to turn off. Should I worry about it? Or just disregard it.

Jaynes, I'm not sure if NOT prefilling the fuel filter and starting dry will/can cause the WIF light to come on, but, knock on wood, I've never had a problem. Whenever I plan on doin a fuel filter change, I go to the fuel center and get a gallon or less of fuel in a 5 gal container. This way I can prefill the filter. Maybe the sensor is bad, I think there about $16 from genos? Bill

I haven't looked at mine but I assume the wires off the indicator on the filter are a two wire connector and a test accross the wires off the bottom should be open without water in it. If it tests closed I would take the bottom off and have a look again. something is touching.

Thanks! I'm going to get on this cause it's kinda getting annoying. I also talked to Pastor Bob and he suggested taking the assembly off and cleaning the two metal prongs with brake cleaner and also cleaning out the male and female connections. You have all been very helpful. Thankyou!
