Got a Question maybe one of you guys can answer. i'm installing the FASS FP setup and you bypass the lp(gone anyways) and the filter assm. if i unplug and remove the filter assm. will the WIF lite stay lit? if so anyway around it? also will it affect anything with the fuel heater disconnected? just kinda like to know ahead of time.

Thanks Scott

Not a problem. I have the same situation as I trashed the stock filter assembly. The WIF wires go to the ECM. If water comes between the two probes... its lights the dash light through the ECM. The ECM may also make some adjustments in power etc... that I dont know. Cummins hotline told me this was not a problem as the ECM would simply see the open plug as "no water" situation forever. But they of course warned me that water still needs monitored... which I do through a Stanadyne fiter system along with its own WIF sensor and warning light.

The fuel heater is not wired into the ECM or PCM in any way. Its just connected to the B+ portion of the fuse block... ie: hard wired. The ambient temps tell the heater thermostat when to kick in and draw power. Your engine wont even know its unplugged. Hope this helps! :)

It's not the ambient temp that starts the fuel heater but rather the fuel temp, there is an internal thermostat.

You probably won't have a problem till it gets below 10F, after that your filter may plug easily.
