2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Will a 3500 rear axle work on a 2500??

It will bolt in, yes. But for a dual wheel set-up, they make the 'dually' axle about 6 " wider .

So, if you use one it will set your tires out.

The Dana 80 used for the 2500 trucks is narrower than the one for a 3500 truck.
 
This is probably a foolish question, but in order to convert a SRW d80 rig into a DRW, why not just use longer studs? I've heard that the bearings are different, and have wondered myself about clearance between offset dually wheels and brakes on the single rear wheel d80. Thanks ahead of time.
