Will a Cap from a 1998 fit on a 2003

My dad expressed interest in buying my 2003 since I bought my father-in-laws 2005. But he put a nice Jason truck cap on his 1998 a year or so ago, and was wondering if a cap made for a 2nd gen would fit on a 3rd gen?

No, the 3rd gen's bed rail to roof top is higher. The other line are off also.

It will fit but it wont look good, I used my dads cap from his 98 on my 06 mega for a road trip, it worked but didint look great

His big concern is interference of the cap and the cab. He says a difference in roofline height doesn't bother him. What looked wrong on the cap when it was on the 3rd gen?

The cap will be a couple inches shorter then the cab.

My neighbor put the canopy from his 96 onto his 08. It "fits" but the box and canopy aren't the same width. At first glance it looks OK but when you really look at it you can see it not right. When I bought the one for my 03 I was looking at one from a Furd but it has to be from a Dodge of that generation to fit properly. Shadrach

Here is a picture of my truck with a shell from a 98, also it will hit the tailgate when closed, I trimmed a little of the shell so it would clear
