Cryo Freezing metal parts.

A few weeks ago I decided to fill up the truck at the Shell station and I grabs one of these pamphlets that gives you 5% off your fuel purchases at Shell stations if you use a Shell Mastercard. So I gets one and since I refuse to patronize Amoco & Mobil I figure this is the greatest thing since sliced bread and I can save 15 cents a gallon besides. WRONG! Either I didn't see the fine print but in any case this applies to gasoline purchases only. So Shell can kiss my gas can too.

Maybe it's time for dieselheads to unite and somebody should contact some of the fuel companies and see if we as a group can get our 5% off too. I'm sick of the government because they slapped us with an extra 6 cents a gallon fuel tax for diesels... Who's in whose pockets now?

You know, I believe Love's, Flying J and Unocal 76 all have their own rewards. Only downside is they are truck stops, but show me a better place to put gassers second in line!

Hey I have yet to run into this problem. But I also have a Discover card for fuel purchases that give 5cent on the dollar back and it doesent matter weather it is Diesel or that other Crap that every one else burns!!!

I have a cenex visa card and any peteroleum product you buy from their pumps you get 3% off a gallon. So if Diesel is 3. 00 a gallon. I can get 9 cents off a gallon. It don't seem like much, but every little bit helps.

My shell card gives me a discount on my diesel purchases, I'm using a local quick mart and they do not have pay at the pump on their diesel pump. I guess when they do it manually, it doesn't pick up it as a diesel.

Speaking of credit cards and filling up (yeah, this is off the topic)... Does anyone have problems with the pump shutting off at say $60, $70, $75 or whatever? I have this happen with both my Visa credit card and my Visa debit card. At some dollar amount, the pump shuts off, even if I still have half a tank left to fill. The stations say it is my card. My card says it is the station. What gives?

I just use my Chase Platinum card for the miles. 110 miles/fill-up. Probably not near as good of a deal as 3-5% cash back though.

Pumps shut down at $75 here and its the stations.

Yeah I got that at a Conoco, but the next time I was at that same station it didn't click off at $75. The Conoco up the road has never clicked off at any amount... The stations that are limiting credit card purchases to $75 are leaving $20 a tank on the table... morons...

A few years back when fuel was still under $2/gal, I had a pump shut off at $50 so I just ran my card again to fill the tank.

What bothers me is that around here, there are no pumps dedicated to only diesel(guess that's what big city living gets me) and there is always some bag in a gasser filling up at the only pump I can use.

Yeah, 2 diesel/gas pumps, each with a gasser filling up, while the other six gas-only pumps are empty

The place I go shuts off at $75. They say it is the card, not the station. The local truck stop used to shut off at $50, but I haven't been there for a while. They also said it was the card.

I use a Citi bank CC that gives a 5% discount on fuel. Also 5% on drugs and food that are not purchased at Walmart. I believe it also pays 1 % on all other purchases. The total amount of "dividends" is capped at $300 I think. When we hit that, we switch to another card that does the same thing.

I think the Flying J card gives a 1 % discount.

Gassers at diesel pumps

I have several times politley asked (before they start pumping) if the owner of a V8 SUV could move over to the next pump, as this is the only one that I can fill up at. Usually, they say "oh, I guess that's right. " and move over.

in the worse neighborhoods they shut off at $50. i guess to keep from loosing money on stolen cards

Some areas I deliver cut at 50. 00 some at 75. 00 and some don't cut off at all (in better areas)

The station that I fill up shuts down at 75 but If I go to the attendant and give the card I can fill up 100+ and then they give the rec. Also my parents back in PA have been buying groceries at Giant Eagle along with gift cards from other vendors and getting additional break on gas purchases through the gas station. ex they needed a new washer they got a gift card to sears for 700 dollars from GE and they got over 1. 00 off a gallon at the GE gas station. its to bad they don't sell diesel though

When I drive a truck for the Co. I work for between the lower 48 & AK I always walk in and give the Co. card to the attendant and tell Them I'll be picking up about 130-150gals. I'm trying to make time so I don't want the pump shutting off. 75 bucks is easy to hit especially when in Canada. And most cards make you go inside if you swipe them more than two times (hitting 75, then again).

Did I mention I love Flying Js and Pilots. Of course when you skip a station and 10hrs later your running on fumes in the middle of nowhere those large cap tanks are worthless.
