Just got flat on my rear passenger side tire (I'm now runnng 285's, originally came with 265's). I want to put my spare tire on which is a 265, so I can run the flat tire over to the tire shop and get it fixed.

Will I hurt my differential by running a 285(rear driver side) on one side and a 265 on the other. ?

I'll probably need drive 10 or 15 miles total to drove the flat off and then go back to pick it up when its done.

I've got a '00 2500 4x4 with limited slip rear differential.

Thanks in Advance.

And when it comes time to replace tires, remember to swap one of your old 285s on as the spare. It fits in there perfectly... especially if your down on tread. This way you don't have to change two tires on the side of the road if you ever have trouble.

Also, because the highway patrolman sure looks at you strange when you're parked on side of the road changing the good tire on the front, while the blown out tire is on the rear. I know... . :D

Thanks guys, I'll put my spare in the front, and front on the rear. Also thanks for the info on a 285 fitting in the spare location. I didn't think it would fit (if I would have known this I would have just bought another tire when I bought the four I have now).

I've got the short bed like you, and I've got a Kelly Springfield MSR as a spare right now. It fits well between the frame rails. The only trick is getting it past the cover on the rear axle when it comes down, but it fits right in there.
