Hello all, I rarely post over here with the 24 valvers, but I have a question. My brother recently got a 2002 ctd with a 5-speed. After riding in my truck, he decided he better make a few mods to keep up with me. I was thinking injectors, or maybe a powermax2? The only mods so far are strait-pipe, and silencer ring removal. What do you guys suggest for a first mod? If injectors, what kind?? Thanks for any info guys.

1st mod should always be gauges.

Someone here should have the link thread titled "The Correct Order of BOMBing, or words to that effect.

Slewis,

I don’t want to seem like a broken record, but you know (as I can see in your signature) that gauges need to be his first mod, then…

I would favor a box over injectors for first power upgrade. I am not all that familiar with the TST’s boxes but the Power Max 3 Adjustable has a built in Digital Pyro and Boost Gauge.

I feel comfortable recommending the COMP box from Edge. I have seen this box add 120 HP to a stock truck.

A set of DD1 or DD2 injectors would do nicely to wake the truck up to answer your question. I would do an EGT guage and the DD2's if it were me. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply guys, he has a pyrometer waiting to be installed, I just gotta find the time:( I'll tell him to look into some DD2's. Will they void warranty? And what about the Edge box? Don't want to do anything to void the warranty.

The edge ez is easy to take on and off to keep the dealer from noticing any mods. I have one and also the 275 injectors. This makes a good combination. Remember if he gets too crazy with the mods he needs to set money aside for a new clutch also.

The stock clutch will hold 650lbs of torque right?? He won't go over that I am sure. The DD2's or 275 injecters are cummins approved, so they don't void warranty right? Thanks for responding guys, it is greatly appreciated

ANYTHING TO INCREASE POWER WILL VOID YOUR WARRENTY!!!

Sorry to yell, but MANY people do not relize this, so it is more for the masses then you. Injectors or anybox will add more fuel, which can be detected by software from Cummins, and some Dodge techs claim that they can see it too, but I do not have confermation on that.

I'm being serious as a heart attack - if the factory warranty is your first consideration, you'd better not do any BOMBing to it! Depending on the dealer, if you bring it in with any mods, it's gonna be nothing but :-{} followed by #@$%! #@$%!

As said above and has been repeated over and over in the magazine - You are your own warranty station. Anything - absolutely anything you do to your truck could void your warranty. Technically, according to the Magnusson-Moss act they have to prove that the modification you made caused the failure. Practically however, if you've modified anything that could possibly in any way shape or form be construed as contributing to the failure then they'll void your warranty and then it would be up to you to prove otherwise. It sucks - but it's the way it is currently :( .

That being said and even in a perfect world where the Magnusson-Moss act was gospel #ad
aftermarket injectors could void your warranty. Let's say for example that a tip came off an injector (not likely, never heard of it happening on here), or the injector got stuck open and flooded a cylinder with fuel - and something failed in the engine because of it. That failure would have been caused by that faulty aftermarket injector - and you would have no right to go after D/C for a warranty claim because it was the aftermarket part that caused the failure. If on the other hand say a valve spring broke then you SHOULD be able to claim it because the increased power of the engine from the uprate couldn't have caused the failure. JMHO
