will my 93 run without the computer in the fender?

my computer is shot!



ac dosnt work, alternator only charged when its above 60* or truck has been left idling for 20 minutes or more. grid heaters wont work either.



i'm going to drop it off at napa to be R&R'd. its going to take about 10 days to get it back. i've been driving the truck without the above things not working all the time. if i unplug the computer, will the truck start, run and shutoff? its my around the farm truck. i put it on the charger when needed. will it work without the computer? i dont want to try and mess somthing up! also, i would like to jump-start the alternator with a keyed 12v source. anyone know what wire triggers the exciter in the alternator?

If you jump the alt with 12v it will not be regulated and charge way to high and burn the bat up also if yoy run a keyed 12v to the fuel sol it will start and run with out the PCM if it is an auto it will not have OD in the trans.

If it was me id go down to the local bone yad and snag a mini van computer and put it in its place it will make the alternator work and possibly the over drive, if there was a altenator rebuild shop you could get a peice for the alternator and just hook one wire up to the alternator and it will work fine and not over charge . as long as there is a 12volt power to the pump that will kill the power it will shut off

You can also buy an individual voltage regulator... .

basicly on the mini van and year that has the over drive , but any of them will run the alternator the plug is exactly the same i checked it on a 94 harness and it plugged in

Lets face it Ma Mopar did not reinvent the wheel so they used stuff they had on the shelf . On my 83 burb that i need to re do because wife dont like and more than wanted hidden rust issues , so im looking for a 80s or 70 chevy pu 4x4 , not running , it has a mini van alternator on it , its a exact bolt on , i just pulled the pully from the seized up cummins one and it works fine
