Help! 2001 HO, never had any problems, all of a sudden it will not crank. Battery is fine, all eletrical operates. you can hear the starter relay, but it will not turn over. Any ideas?

How many miles? Are you sure it is the starter solenoid you are hearing or maybe the AC kicking off when you go to start position? Turn everything off except a light inside the cab that you can see, hit the starter and see if the light dims. If the starter solenoid is in fact clicking and nothing is happening then it could be the contacts in the solenoid or brushes in the starter or an open winding in the starter armature. Just some ideas. Good luck. bg

Only 23K miles, and I did check the lights, they don't dim when I go to start position. As for the solenoid, I don' tthink I hear that, just confirmed that the relay up in the fuse is activating.

Not enough miles to expect starter trouble. You might try switching the starter relay out with one of the others in the PDC ( make sure they have the same part# ), I believe they are interchangable. Also could be the neutral switch but if you can hear the relay clicking then thats out. It appears the solenoid is mounted on the bottom of the starter. bg

Found the problem, or at least part of the problem. I did try swapping the relays, but after I got my meter out I found that the 30 amp starter circuit fuse was bad. Swapped it with another, and it blew. Got replacements, jumpered the starter one and just "bumped" the starter, then put the new fuses in, been working fine, I've started it several times, but I'm sure curious why it blew in the first place.
