Might be off the wall but my old 99 wouldn't go into OD, they found that alternator diodes were shot and the batteries real low. Might wanna check just in case.
As strange as it sounds check the battery connections. Try taking all four of them off for an hour or so clean em up real good and give a through coat of Vaseline on the posts and the cable ends before you put em back on. Then turn the key on (don't start) and slowly depress the go pedal all the way to the floor, then slowly release all the way. Turn the key off and then turn it on wait to start as usual and start.
I was having hunting problems (in and out of OD) and this worked for me. May not work for you but, it's cheaper than a trip to the transmission shop. And if it doesn't work it's only a two beer job. Check engine to body grounds too. Make sure there isn't any corrosion on the computer plugs for the trans etc. Get some of that dielectric grease and give a good coating to the plugs while you have them off.
Hope this helps - please post reply if it does or doesn't.
