I just programmed a third key today, and it works, but there was one significant thing I noted. The actions that the truck was supposed to take during the programming, i. e. the "immobilizer lamp" illuminating and flashing at various times, did not seem to occur as per the manual. Instead, during the middle of the procedure, the check engine lamp flashed in their place.
Also, not sure where you got your key, but I purchased mine from ekeylessremotes.com. They were certainly not the cheapest, but what appealed to me was that their ordering instructions had specific Part Numbers and FCC ID so I could be sure I was getting the exact same key.
BTW, I ended up at a local locksmith to physically cut the key, because the hardware store clerk was nervous about double sided keys. Locksmith told me that they charge about $86 to program a key if they have to connect to the truck. $6. 00 for him to just cut the key and have me program it.
