I have a isspro trans temp gauge and sender and want to install it for oil temp instead as I have a 6 speed. The probe extends 5/8 deep after installed in filter pad port. Will this obstruct oil flow and cause a problem. Anyone that is for sure on this a reply would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

I wouldn't hesitate to put the probe in the filter head. The probe extends 5/8", but the filter head casting is at least 1/4", so that means only 3/8" penetration in the flow.

No big deal. I haven't done it (yet), but I know others have.

you mean 3/4"?

No, I meant 3/8". I mean the threads are roughly 1/4" deep, so the probe will actually stick into the flow (5/8)-(1/4)=3/8. Right? Or have I missed something dumb?

Not sure of the thread on the filter head but you can get an "extender" from Diesel Manor (can't seems to find it on their page anymore... . hmmm). It's a coupling with a nipple to space the sending unit about 1/2" further out. I bought one with my cooler line for the isspro sending unit and don't need it. It was expensive ($16 IIRC).

It's not a real good idea to space the sender out from the filter head body. I did this, and I don't get accurate temperature readings.
