I've found my overhead mpg indicator on my totally stock 03 w/48re auto to be fairly close to actual mpg. Will this still hold true after I install an Edge EZ? I'm only planning on running it on level 2. Thanks.

When I had the EZ on #4 on my '03, it routinely was around 2. 2 mpg overstated on the overhead. Seems as if I run the Juice w/Attitude on #1 or #2 that the overhead is off but by smaller margins... ... if I run it on #5, the gap widens.

Did either of you have accurate overhead readings before installing the boxes?

Mine was typically within . 2 or . 3 mpg of hand calculated prior to any mods (unless Dave's Fuel Tank Vent counted as a mod at that time :-laf ).

I think a simple explaination of what the box is doing will solidify the NO answer. You are installing the box inline with the engines computer. The engine computer reads all of its inputs and sends out the command signals, including figuring the overhead fuel milage. The box intercepts these signals and alters them as they go to the fuel system. The overhead reads pre-altered signals, the engine squirts more fuel based on post altered signals. The overhead has no way of calculating correctly as it doesn't get the right info anymore. Obviously the lower settings change it less as less extra fuel is used.

I am considering the VA box since I don't like the extra rail pressure idea. I want my overhead to remain correct as well but accept it is something you must give up for now. Maybe some manufacturer will correct for this but I doubt the demand is too high.

I keep track of how far mine is from the actual hand calc. With the EZ on 3 and the TST normally on 5/6 or 5/7, the following values are how much higher the overhead display was than the actual mpg, per tank.

My mileage fluctuates pretty widely between city (17) and long Hwy runs keeping it under 65 (22) so I reset it on trips to get a fresh reading. If the overhead is way off, then it's back to the old pencil and pad method to tell if the box is helping or hurting mpg.
