i am just curious as to if the new cummins or current cummins engine will have the ability to drive a little 1 cyl. air compressor straight off the engine [gear driven]? ... like one of the little bendix ones. larger trucks equiped with the b series engine have them i think [kinda need one if ya got air brakes]

it would be nice to have one for running air horns and just to have if you need to fill up tires or run air tools. .

so could one be installed? or would you just have to go with an accessory mount type that runs off the belt?

On our trucks the vacuum and power steering pumps are driven off the location that an air compressor is run.

The medium duty trucks with air brakes mount the p/s to the back of the compressor. F*rd uses an electric vacuum pump to supply vacuum for the A/C. For the p/s pump to clear our motor mount a divorced reservior is needed. It can be done the parts are out there. The compressor and mounting is available from Cummins. You can choose whose pump you want to use. I think I am going to use the ZF pump used by F*rd. I already have the vacuum pump and some of the brackets, the compressor is out of my pocketbook right now.
