I was just curious if they are working on making some sort of outlook monitor for the smarty,I have been wanting to get one but havent for the simple reason that they dont make something like a monitor,I just hate that thing laying there in the way,or I dont know I have never owned a smarty, can you change the settings on the fly, like you can a bd triple dog,can somebody tell me a little more about the smartys????????

Since the smarty reprograms the ecm it can't be done on the fly, boxes that are fueling or timing boxes can be for the most part because they just alter reading and such and don't actua;y reprogram the ecm.

It flat out works great and reportedly leaves no imprint on your truck's computer. Changing the settings takes just minutes. Excellent customer support. A monitor would be a great addition though.

Do you think Marco or whoever will come up with something eventually to change it on the fly, thats my biggest hang up with it :(

I think Marco is probably not making them change on the fly because he is trying to be fair with other manufacturers. They need something to make people buy their products... ... I mean we all know the "other guys" tuning isn't as good as Smarty! ;)

It's a relatively expensive way to go, but combining the Smarty programming with a box like the Edge Comp allows the best of both - the lower end improvement of the Smarty, and the additional power and on-the-fly adjustability of the Comp that covers the whole programming spectrum of both - all instantly from the driver seat.

This is my problem also. I have the Triple Dog and most of the time it's on performance, however I like the ability to "play" every once in a while without stopping to reprogram. I also have the TST but the power isn't as smooth as the BD. I don't doubt the Smarty is a good product but nobody has convinced me it's worth making the switch since the fact it "doesn't leave an imprint" on the ECM is great for some but is the least of my concerns since they could easily void my warranty just by walking past. :D I haven't ruled it out but I'd hate to lose one of the features I like the most (on the fly) to gain others I don't need.

i currently run just the smarty and i absolutly love it, but i plan on stacking it with the TST, i heard they stack great together plus i can put the smarty on an even SW# (software number) (running no timing) and just crank the TST up when i want to play around. . Just my opinion - Get a smarty, stack it with your TST and get rid of bullydog. . Smarty = No Regrets

The smarty is definetly the way to go. Marco is so far the only manufacturer I've seen who's really been concerned about listening to the majority of us and making his product accomidate. I've already got gauges so monitoring isn't quite as important but, the dashhawk is supposed to monitor every thing the edge attitude does only you can't adjust the power. So in your case, I'd go with the smarty and the dashhawk.

kdbvulcan,

No on the fly changes with the Smarty, but what you will find is that after playing with it for a while and changing power levels aroud you will find the one that you like best and pretty much forget about changing it anyway. Even most folks that have a change on the fly like the Bully Dog eventually get it where they want it and forget it etc. As far as having the Smarty in your way once you program it you unplug it and leave it behind the seat or where ever you want to etc. Great product and works extremely well if you plan other mods and there are so many optional programs to select from that work with most any other product etc.

My suggestion to folks with your questions are to get the Smarty and a set of gauges follwed by intake and exhaust!!

I adjust my Juice all the time. weather. . racing. . towing. .

That's the only thing keeping me from a SMARTY as well.

I kept my Smarty on 90 and used my TST and TS MP-8 for adjustments.

Good stuff, really miss it. The Smarty was the single best power adder I have ever used. And I had two Quad boxes (100 and 140), two ez's (6-position and 4-position), a Juice, a Ramifier, A MP-8, a TST PMCR, Bully Dog Triple Dog and the Smarty.

I would agree that the Smarty not haveing "on the fly" adjustability is an issue, but not a big one. You can always use a 30 or 60hp Smarty program with a TST and/or pressure box and get a "kill" setting by adjusting those. I also agree that Marco/Madselectronics is the only company actively seeking "end user" input as to improvements, and letting the user "update" the unit themselves.

That said Smarty isn't perfect, I get a hanging throttle (on all settings and programs) at the 3/4 shift and I don't like how the throttle seems to be compressed (though some do). The beauty is that as long as Marco keeps writeing code for the Smarty and listening to us, these things are perfectly fixable.

Does anyone know why stacking the smarty with the juice is not recommended? It seems to me that it would be a good combo of power and gauges.
