The truck in your signature uses leaf springs. This axle is setup for coil springs with trailing arms to locate the axle under the truck.

That's what I was afraid of...



I couldn't tell from the pics if they just used some brackets to make the coils fit a 60 or if the 60 was actually different from the leaf setup.

It is different. The leaf setup has a spring mount on the drivers side welded to the tube. The passenger side spring mount is cast into the center section. On the later model axle the center section is on the driver side. Ours is on the passenger side.



There is a lot of difference between the axles. But it didn't hurt to ask.
