I am thinking of converting my 2001 auto to a 5sp manual out of a 1996. I have all of the parts nesassary for the conversion. Will that transmission work on my truck or would I need a newer model? Any info is great, thanks.
The hard parts should work fine. Except your cup holder would be rendered usless
I like the tighter shift pattern on the 98+ gearboxes, but I'd still take the old shift over the auto.
Ive wandered about this before on wether the PCM would be confused-- or ECM, or both-- when the transmission electronics are removed. On the plus side you wouldnt have that curssed clutch safety switch, I'd love to bypass mine but that would screw up the cruise controll.....
