Soybean oil in fuel

running on peanut oil ?!.

Wow... Saw this on the site:

"Just by putting Biodiesel in the tank, you can turn a giant F350 7. 3 Liter V8, diesel powered pick up truck into a far more environmentally friendly vehicle than a Toyota Prius Hybrid. As a bonus, no modifications are required to the vehicle or the gas station supplying the fuel to facilitate this transformation. "

Is that true? Is it really that enviro friendly?? Well, darnit!! Why aren't we selling it everywhere? Why can't I buy it in Maryland? Lessens our dependance on foreign oil and helps out farmers at the same time?

Geeessh... come on guys!

Willie is a great country song writer and a pretty fair singer. A petroleum expert and businessman he is not. His politics are similar to those of Barbara Streisand and other noted Hollywood lightweights. I think I'll stick with petroleum-based diesel fuel and listen to Willie singing my theme song, "On-The Road Again... ... " on my truck sound system.

Harvey

He's been a big proponent of Biodiesel for a while. I don't know why all country singers don't promote BioDiesel on their tours like the treehugger contingency does.

No, unfortunately that's not true. While changing to biodiesel will greatly reduce particulate/soot/carbon emissions, it actually slightly increases NOX emissions. Overall, it's a great reduction in emissions switching to biodiesel. Comparing a 7. 3 on bio to a prius probably isn't realistic though.

Knowing Willie's history, the stuff is probably laced with marijuana, making REALLY funny smelling bio diesel!
And also knowing Willie's history, I doubt the federal fuel tax has been paid on it!

Perhaps Willie's plug is more about his pro-farm politics than his enviro politics. To me, biodiesel only becomes compelling when you consider the benefits of cash crop opportunities for US farmers and increased energy independence, along with the environmental benefits.

In response to the joke about road tax, biodiesel actually reduces fuel taxes beyond what is normally charged. The jobs creation act includes a $1 per gallon tax reduction and refund for fuel made from virgin vegetable oil for the fuel supplier ($0. 50) for fuel from recycled oil. Granted the customer may not see a full dollar reduction because the supplier still has the ability to charge you the amount the fuel originally had cost before the act went into affect on the 1st of the year. In general you should see a reduction in the price of biodiesel though.

This, of course, is a Federal subsidy intended to make biodiesel more cost-competitive. The other side of the coin is, should biodiesel take off and begin significantly offsetting dino diesel consumption, where will the shortfall in fuel taxes be made up, or will the Federal government have to come up with new taxes for road construction and maintenance?

Duvall: "Smell that?... Do you smell that?"

Sam Bottoms: "What. "

Duvall: "Soybeans, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that... I love the smell of Soybeans in the morning... Ya know, that used cooking oil smell... It smells like... victory. "

If yall were members of Texas Farm Bureau ( you Texans I should say ) yall would of read the whole story in your monthly Farm Bureau Magizine.

I had to try some of it.

No one in Utah seems to sell it.

When I was in CA I got some, but after a whole lot of running around. Way too much running.

It didn't really seem to give me any more power, or better mileage.

My next oil analysis had an elevated lead level. Don't know of this had anything to do with it or not  .

If the availability and the price were better, I'd run it, cause man, does it smell good :D

I ran B100 from September till the end of November and then back to B50 and now B20 due to the cold weather. The engine quieted down and I found it almost impossible to smoke when I floored it on the highway. The minute I can get a heated fuel tank I'll be off petroleum except in the coldest weather were I'll just use B20 to start and switch over to B100.
