Wind noise and DIY seal tweaks

The infamous "wind seal" noise has been brought up several times in this forum. The noise is driving me crazy (as if I wasn't already), especially with pop-up loaded and in crosswinds. Dealer says they can't (or won't) do anything. In this forum previous threads advising how to loosen and re-adjust hinges have been met with mixed results. Some other past suggestions were to push in foam caulking backer rod try injecting foam or other media into the interior of the door seals (they are hollow). What I want to know has anyone tried to "stuff" the door seals with anything and has that worked? What did you use to fill door seal up with?

My seals are NOT torn, part of the reason why dealer refuses to replace per the TSB.

I would not be too quick to stuff the hollow seal. That hollow is what makes it work as well as it does. Make sure the door fits correctly first. Use a dollar bill between the door frame and the body to judge the correct fit,It should be held firm enough that you can not pull it out with the door closed. Many times a slight adjustment to the striker is enough.

Both my door seals were torn, so I replaced both and didn't fix the wind whistle.



After playing around with electrical tape and sealing the door in sections, I isolated the part the creates the whistle, as the trim strip past the door on the cab roof (continuation of the door roof line). Ran around with tape for a couple months (the black tape matched the trim color) before just finally pressing in some putty.

I had some stuff that back in the day we called it "Dum- dum. " I placed it tin the gap if the seals and it is fine for everyday driving with no noise. However... when I put the camper on the truck it redirects the wind in such a way that I hear the noise.

I used dum dum back in the 70's... ... ... ... ... back then it was a common thing the way the cars were built so poorly. Now they are not so bad

Go to Home Depot or Lowe's and get caulk stuffer. It is in the caulking or insulation isle and comes in several diameters. You also need lots of talcum powder and an air chuck. You want to stuff the weather strip from the front A pillar to the gap between the front and rear door. Insert the stuffer with lots of powder using a blow gun GENTLY to open the the hollow up. You may need to cut an opening in the weather strip with a razor blade to insert the stuffer. Seal it back up with super glue when complete. But before you go to this extreme, adjust the door hinges and strikers properly as Bob said.

Most quality body shops used to carry various seal stuffers but I have not found one in the last few years that even knows what I'm talking about.
