Okay, I've look and poked and checked. Now I need to see if some one else out there has run into this or has any ideas about what's going on. About 400 miles ago I started hearing a sound (55K) that for the life of me sounds like a wind noise. I checked the air intake area, around the air filter and in it. Changed air filter. Took off the Turbo air intake line and checked it. Checked all the fittings to and from the intercooler, all fine. Checked between the radiator and intercooler areas, nothing/clean. Pulled the wheels checked the brakes, all about 75%. Changed the rear dif. and check the gears, teeth, etc and changed lube, in great shape. Tires are not aggressive and though two have been replaced it was with the same ones I took off, no problems before and this showed up about 5K after there replacement.
I normally hear this noise after 45 mph and sometimes after 60 mph. When I have heard the noise I have taken it out of gear and coasted, its still there. Have put it in neutral, shut off the engine while coasting down the road, still there. The hearing isn't quite what it use to be so the exact direction of the noise is not exactly known (my grandaughter says its up front on my side). Yes, I have checked all the windows and doors and all the seals are fine. Transfer case in 2 wd. As I drop down in speed it disappears, normally around 55 to 45mph but has followed me down to 40 then its gone. Disappears and comes on, for the most part, gradually.
All suggestions/ideas welcome. Thx.
