Jeep 4.0l?

Gotta love the Olympics...

Well I did my whole network without any hitches EXCEPT when it came to PC # 4 The Newest guy. An HP ZX5180. AFTER install It hung up on me upon restart ONCE. After that all smooth as the thing was allways lightning quick. 3 Ghz and 512 will do that.

NOW When I try to hibernate it SHUTS DOWN and Reboots  :( and now its slowed down bigtime and has a constant 250 meg worth of memory devoted to system resources which makes it to the point I can type and look up and a seccond or so later the sentance I typed shows up.

So far I have run all my anti virus , spyware , and scan and defrag programs so she is in theory "Clean" In that retrospect. I also went line by line on all my device drivers and strings and found zero conflicts and nothing updated from the sp2 update date forward. The real Hop in the pants is that I have not a go to point in the system restore that is remotely close to the sp2 update (I know My Bad).

Any ideas? I was thinking of a startup edit to back off a ton of the process that are loading upon startup that are not needed , or shared by my top 10 programs I regularly use. Those memory resident killers bug me anyhow.

My IT guy here at work was talking about that to me the other day saying that SP2 is known to cause that problem, but as of yet, it has not been resolved. I don't think you can do anything about it until Billy Bob releases a patch.

Exactly..... MS says we need to install all the patches to prevent virus/worm outbreaks. We are not/cannot install SP2 as it broke too many things.

Oh well... ... Glad I run Linux for my home network and web servers.

Ot oh I think it may be something underlying here as well. So far 42,000 bad clusters have been found by scandisk and the screen keeps rollin' the counter. :( Brand frikkin' new laptop and I yelled at the zitty sales kid to just finish the sale and save the pitch and no crummy extended service plan so I can get the heck out of here

Well she finished and said :

The disk does not have enough space to replace bad clusters detected in file 53220 of name.

Dude It's a 80 Gig drive with nothing on it !!!

Now you tell me. I installed the SP yesterday. No problems yet. I am curious how the virus/spam/pop-up protection gets along with the Norton software on my computer.

This thread reminds me of a M*A*S*H episode where they are disarming a bomb. The instructions are: "cut the red wire, ... but first... "

SP2 Intergrates very well with norton products. All of mine have found norton's and recognize it.

Installed mine with McAfee on board... the only problem I had was the built in Windows pop-up stopper that would not allow me to reply to webmails. It is easily disabled in the Tools menu on the toolbar in Internet Explorer.
