When my driver side window switch on the 03 is down in the door like it should be, none of the other windows in the truck will work. With the back (rear of the truck) of the switch assembly pulled up out of the door panel, the other doors have control again. The switch at the driver door never loses control of the other windows.

I need tips and/or schematics to troubleshoot this. I haven't found anything visually to cause this problem. I haven't pulled the door panel to inspect down stream in the harness.

thanks for the help

I have the same problem, and I've heard the same complaint from other 2003 owners. Since I rarely carry passengers, it's not much of an issue for me and I haven't bothered to fix it.

However, I strongly suspect the problem is the lockout switch in the driver control panel (although your rear door switch being pulled out wouldn't have anything to do with this).

Check the wiring harness that passes between the rear door for chafing. Many have found it rubbed through and wires broken.
See this thread.

And here's a good one from recently.

Me three... same 'intermittent' passanger window switch fail to function issue. I even pulled the driver's door switch panel and used foil to short out the lockout switch... unfortunatly, the 'all function' position must be 'open' for the lockout switch because jumping it didn't fix the problem. I intend to pick up a used switch to experiment on, the new ones are just too expensive!

I'm going to venture and say that I have a broken contact and when I pick up on the switch, the tension on the wires moves the contact back into place.

thanks for the links. They confirm what I had in my head

Well... I hit the nail on the head.

I pulled the switch down to look inside it. I tried to lose the little latch spring on the lockout switch about 5 times, but I did find the problem.

The pin on the PCB is broken loose but still inside the mound of solder. IT's just exactly what I expected, an intermittant that would contact when moved. I have no idea why it would have ever broken like this.

I'm glad that you all gave me the courage to go inside this thing. I was scared even after reading those threads that I was going to brak the board taking it apart.

I tried to get a picture but can't get my canon to focus down that close.
