the other thing to try along with the unsintall like doc said are... .

before you reinstall, clean up the drive, remove all the temp files. Do a scan disk and defrag. Then reinstall the program.

This way the program will have a large unused area to write it's self during the install and wont be fragmented.

Some times the all the files associated with a particular file get tossed all over the drive and during the time it takes the machine to find them, it's too long and errors occur while trying to read or write them into operational memory.

Other times it could be just another program running at the same time and they both try and access the same spot in memory. If it keeps happening start looking for other programs your running at the same time. Some times your recently updated AV will cause problems. . then the problems go away (AV company does another update after reported problems) after your machine does an auto update or you do one.

Other times it could be the last program or update that wound up updating a DLL that (in this case) Window Media uses... . hence the crash and just the reinstall or update (just as Doc suggested) will work since it will put back a compatible DLL.

just some more ammo for your clip.

good luck

Bob
