Had the windshield replaced in prep for my journey this week, and the thing is leaking. I called the folks back, they put some sealer around it, but it still leaks. It is leaking at the bottom by the A-pillars (bottom left and right). Anybody else had a problem with the gasket for the glass leaking like this? They reused the gasket, it was in good shape, I really wanted them to use a new one, but they said the old was in good shape, who knows

mine too...and the end result is not good

I just bought a 93 W250, body is in great shape for a salt-belt truck..... but, the winshield has been leaking at the bottom for years I would guess... . the result of which is that the rain runs down the dash and onto the floor... . it has rubber floor mat instead of carpet... . thus trapping the water in the insulation under the rubber, and in turn I have rotten floors..... Who is the mental midget that decided to use a product that absorbs and retains water as a sound/heat insulation in the first place ?

If you dare, lift the floor mats and check to see if your leak has caused the same grief. I've ordered a new window seal and new floor pans to weld in... .

yuck !!!! :--)

All is well metal wise, it's a Texas truck, I took the rubber floor mat out and put undercoating all over the floorboards. This is new since the windshield (about a week old), I don't want it to get worse though. I don't know where to start to put gasket sealer... I took the plastic trim off the inside, looks to all be coming from the lower part of the glass.

I'll post a pic tomorrow that might show you a good place to start with the sealer. I have a bare cab setting in the garage.

Make them come back and install a new gasket. Be there when they do it so you can see what it looks like in there.

Here are the pic's.

I pulled the windshield out on Monday evening. It was the orginal windshield and had never been out. It had a small amount of sealer all the way around the windshield. But when it got to the area I took the pic's of. Dodge layed it in heavy there. The heavy bead started about 1/2" above where the windshield turned upward to about 1. 5" past that body seam.

So take it back and tell them to do the job right this time.

Hope the pic's help.

Sorry it took so long to get back, just finished a 1600 mile road trip and haven't been around a computer. I guess the truck left with sealer around the gasket and the glass, they came back and put some sealer in... didn't work, I'm done with them and had to leave because of a family emergency, so I fixed it myself. I found it leaking between the glass and the gasket like I said, and bought some clear glass silicone, rained today, no leaks, guess I got it. I was there when they did the glass and told them I wanted the new gasket, they had one with them, but they used the old one anyways, oh well, they thought they were saving me money, I would have rather been saved the hassle...

windsheild leaking

my 92 seams to be leeking by the trim screws , i think its time to find

a rig to repower any one have a crew cab 4x4 or a Fower Poke sitting around ?????

I went through the same thing with original windshield finally used whole tube of black stuff till couldn't get any more in it. Now dealing with same thing with new windshield and gasket after paint job. I don't think the design was very good, just takes lots of sealant. :(

I have a 91. 5 that used to drip from the windshield, at the top, when it rained hard . Found that the culprit was the sealant around the roof and front gutter joint had deteriorated. Old UGLY was just showing its age=). I cleaned it out and recaulked it with silicone caulk. Not pretty, but it works. GregH

If your first gen windshield isn't leaking..... there is something wrong with your truck.

It was designed that way from the factory, trust me on that.
