I had that issue one year ago. My intermittents were intermittent. They replaced tha stalk and it has been fine ever since.

Probably the multi function switch. Mine was replaced about two years ago. It is not a bad DIY job I don't think, there is a step by steb thread on here somewhere if you can find it. bg

There was an article in the magazine that showed how you could open up the switch and clean an area that has four contact arms that get shorted across because of metal in the dielectric grease they are lubed with. I also have intermittent intermittents. I haven't opened mine up yet. They do sometimes completely don't work on intermittent, and then come back. Mine seem to act up more after consecutive rainy days. I think I've also heard there can be issues caused by weak ground on the FCM (front control module).

windshield wiper problem

I have been having this intermittant intermittant for quite a while on my 04. 5 dually. When I called the Dodge dealer I was told it could be a problem in the FCM? Also it could be in the wiper motor module? What 04 BlackCherry said maybe the contacts in the wiper control are contaminated with metal. I have no idea how to take that switch apart and not lose any parts in it. Dirty contacts from the contaminated greese dielectric make sense though. When you first turn them on they make 4 cycles of the wiper and then hold for about 1 second and wipe again ,after 5 minutes no intermittant wiper at all.

I would to know what magazine the write up is in for dissasembly.

Issue 71, page 38,39. You can look at it here by going to the drop down "TDR Magazine", then select "Digital Magazines. "

This is funny, My 89 had this same problem as did my 02 and now my 05. You'd think that we could make a switch that would work and last. I've had old Toyota's that were not in the best shape that the multifunction switch worked like it should. And it's not just Dodge, My wife's chevy had issues with the same switch only with her truck it was the break lights.
