My windshield wipers will sometimes hang up and stop in the middle of the windshield, and blow the fuse immediately after. It always seems to do it on the down stroke, in the same spot. It seems like the wiper mechanism linkage is intermittantly binding. Anyone else ever have this problem?

My 86' used to stop at odd spots but didn't blow fuses, I tore the motor mechanism open and there are some contacts inside that had gotten covered with grease that had dripped out of the gears, cleaned it up with electrical contact cleaner and it worked fine for another 60,000miles and was working good when I sold the truck, might be something simular.
Good Luck,
Caleb

Nope never had the problem (at least not yet!) But if I can offer a little advice sounds like your going to have to do a wee bit of investigating. You may need to check that motor out and clean it up, at worst you may need a another motor. But before you do check out the wiring insulation, make sure its in good shape and not showing any signs of damage. Nothin like a shorting out the circuit to take out a fuse! Good Luck!

You may also want to check the ground. Running a wire to the motor from the battery would work to test it.
