I have a 2005 3500 and I'm having problems with the windshield wipers. The intermediate settings are not working right. Sometimes the wiper sweeps once then parks, like it should, and other times it either doesn't sweep after the first sweep or it sweeps several time, then parks, or continuously sweeps. Does anyone know if the wipers are controlled by a computer module, an ordinary switch, or what? Any ideas how to fix this?

Problem is in the multy function switch. The contats get some corousion (sp?) on them and it stops working. If you excersize the swith a few times sometimes it will clean up the contacts and will work normal again. This has been an on going problem for Dodge/ Ram they can't seem to make a good switch. I've had his problem on every Dodge truck I've owned since 1989. It's sad that Toyota (and I've owned a few really abused ones that I saved from the scrap yard) can make a switch that just works and us American's can't. My wife's Chevy had issues with the same switch only on her truck the wipers worked just fine it was the break lights that would work intermttantly.

For instructions with photos on removal and suggested cleaning/repair of the Multifunction Switch, see TDR Issue 71, page 38.

Thanks for the help... I remember glancing at that article, when the new magazine issue came out, but that sounds like what the problem is. I was thinking of replacing the wiper motor, but I can see that all the controls are in the switch. Thanks...

I have the exact same problem. I took apart the multifunction switch and cleaned as directed. Still does it. Many people have this problem. Some say that replacing the wiper motor cures it. I haven't tried that yet.
