Just a post about Wisconsin winter camping. Lived here all my life and have never done it. But last week we walked thru Kohler Andre State Park and found 3 campers enjoying the snow. It sure looked like alot of fun and alot of work. But I would be game for it.

Maybe next year. Camper is snowed in inside my barn now anyway... ...

I thought you were talking about really camping in the winter. :-laf

Try building a snow cave and sleepin' in it, or setting up a tent in nice spot.

We've camped near Grand Junction CO in our RV in +10° weather with high winds on our way from Denver to the Grand Canyon. On the return trip, we stayed two nights at Durango waiting for Wolf Creek Pass to be cleared. I had a ball. I did a lot of winter camping in RMNP too, with day snowshoeing trips. I do a lot of winter camping here in AZ, but I don't suppose that counts.

The wife and I camp anytime we can... time of year doesn't matter.

Since we got rid of the old camper, I got to make sure the furnace in the new one works!

My last winter camping trip was a couple of winters ago. Five of us skied up through the Teton Wilderness, across the southern part of Yellowstone, waded the Snake River... a couple of times, and then down to Flagstaff Ranch. Part of the nights were spent in tents and part in cabins. Pulled pulks with the gear. Night time temps were around zero with the coldest -15F. First Day it rained, a couple of days it blizzarded, and some days were bright cold and clear. Figured it was this ol' dog's last hurrah for the winter camping routine. When I was a pup I also traversed the Bog Marshall a couple of times.

Already got next spring's canyonland trip planned for the Buckskin and Pariah. WhooHaww :-laf

Depends on where you are in Arizona. Flagstaff area can be sort of chilly.

we camp year 'round here in the north georgia mountains . i have camped in my fifth wheel in weather as low as 7 degrees f and have camped when it was snowing . winter camping is much more enjoyable to me because i am so hot natured .

we are currently full timing in our Montana in Steamboat Springs, Co. and have no problems! Skiing every day is great! Been down to -15 and still ok. but ya gotta be set up right to do this!

I used to tent camp in the winter before Kids. Usually had the whole campground to myself.

It was fun, plus an excuse to get really good cold weather gear. :)

Haven't winter camped for 7 years now.

Usually did my winter camping at Ledges State Park, near Boone, Iowa.

I find the hardest part of winter camping isn't the cold weather, but finding a campground that is actually open!

Most of the campgrounds on the east coast close between November 1 and March 15.

You must be looking in the wrong area. Down here the campgrounds are closed all summer, and open all winter! Not much snow, but you can pick fresh citrus out of your RV window!

I've been living in my 5th wheel for 7 years all over the U. S. . We moved to Wisconsin a year ago and have enjoyed it ever since. Until, not too long ago it was 20 below two nights in a row. Not fun!! Our 5th wheel is winterized to be a year round camper, but I'm thinking this isn't the year-round weather the manufacturer had in mind.

jeepit said it earlier, you do get alot of moisture. I have dual pane windows and still got alot of moisture as do the other three 5th wheels in the park.

Must be a size thing? I had our slide in out and about in cold weather... lots of single pane windows. Never had a moisture problem??

Would that be an indication of a leak? Either a water leak or a furnace leak (byproduct of burning propane is water vapor)???

We have used our various trailers for skiing at Fernie B. C. for the last 25 years. We haven't been using the water and plumbing as the hill was not set up for full hookups. The condensation problem can be alleviated by opening a roof vent about an inch or so. Also be sure and use the range fan when cooking. . We are looking to full time soon and we are in the process of upgrading our fiver. Some of the new units have some good insulation upgrades, heated tanks and one we are looking at has a moisture control system. We used to have a problem with propane freezing off or poor heat in real cold weather. One day when I was fighting to get heat a neighbor asked if I had methyl hydrate (gasline alcohol) in my tanks. I got some into an empty tank, filled it up and connected it to the system. Within minutes we had lots of heat. I have continued this practice ever since and have never had a problem.
