Two questions:
1. what is the size of the hole that needs to be cut out on winter front. Truck got stolen and they took the one that I had that fit in front of radiator. Have material to make a new one but cannot find any info on size of cutout.
2. they took the tailgate dampner and cannot find one for 2001. Geno's doesn't sell one for the '01. I think the only difference is the mounting on the one they have. My mounts are the 1/4 ball type. The dampner length needs to be 13 1/4 closed and 19 1/4 open measured from c/l of ball. If anyone has one of the new ones can you measure the open/closed dimensions. Or if you know of one that is a replacement for an '01.

On #2, you need to make sure of the closed length more the the open length. Doesn't need to be all the way closed to work. I put one on my '14 that doesn't have one listed for it either. Rockauto.com has listings on the dampeners under the universal parts section with the different sizes. Sorry to hear about your situation but glad you've gotten it back!

Thanks, I allowed for some on closed/open lengths. I went to Grainger and they have dampners that are of lengths an strength (lbs.). Bought on that was for 80 lbs. and couldn't open or close it. I need to call them and talk to them to see what their tech suggests. I will also check RockAuto as I never thought of them. Thanks again

I used the Sachs SG314900EZ kit on my '14. It was listed only up to '09, but worked. May help you in find the correct force needed. DeeZee also Has some kits listed on rockauto. Good luck with finding a replacement.

I had a 99 and used cardboard and a 10 inch hole most all winter -15 to 32f here in alaska anything below zero no hole at all I would think start small and see what it does and go bigger. If the fan doesn’t come on you are ok

Terry thanks. The origional one that I bought back in '01 was from a couple in Alaska that made one with hole that rolled up when not in use. It finally got torn from use. I used the pattern for the last one I made that got stolen. The hole size sounds about right. Thanks again.
