I live out in the country, when I first start my truck in the morning after the oil presure goes up I put into neutral and let it idle for a minute. Then I have about 1/4 of a mile of down hill driving, before I get on the state hiway. When I get on the hiway it is about 3 miles of uphill driving, and on cold morning my truck never gets into OD until I get to the top of the 3 mile long hill. I try to keep the rpm's between 1800 - 2000. My question is does it hurt the truck to go over 2000 rpms or should I keep it under 2000 rpm's until it gets warmed up? I can go another way that is flat and windy roads but it takes longer. But I will do the long route if it is better for the truck. This is not a problem on warm morning since it shifts into OD going up the hill. Thanks for the help on the newbie questions.

as long as you are not pushing the truck too hard on the uphill like medium throttle, then it is ok. the truck is making gobs of oil pressure and the power will be down a bit but just go normal but not hard. so what if a ford passes you when you are just getting up to speed, now is not the time for a race lol

Speaking as a long haul truck driver for 10 yrs... ... .

2-3 minutes of highway and the truck will handle anything then.

You should be ok, if you keep the rpms at or below 2000. You might want to plug your truck in a few hours before you start in the mornings (set your truck on a timer). This should help you in the winter. Also, you might want to get a winter front.

Winter fronts?

I make a winter guard that was in the #33 TDR mag.

I am making these during the winter and I have just made 11 more sets today.

E-mail me at -- email address removed -- If you want a set, $25 total

These are good to keep on up to 60-70 deg cause you still get a little air from the bumper holes down lower.

I also make a set for the first Gen trucks here is link for that if you know anyone that has a 1st gen

I forgot how nice it is to start a plugged in truck. :) I started plugging mine in when it got to 45 or so. Mine is on a timer, set to turn on @ 3am & go off @ 7am.
