My windshield wiper switch is intermittent. Sometimes it works correctly and sometimes it will not turn on until it is turned past the timing positions.
Is it the switch, the motor or what??? The swipes always come on in one position or another but not where I want them

If you can make it work by manipulating the switch I'd replace it before I looked anywhere else. The multiple function switch on the trucks has been known to be troublesome.

I had mine replaced earlier, had Chrysler cover it, as the original switch was blinkering on the opposite side of what the switch was being used to indicate. Now with the factory replacement, the wiper issue you describe is my issue now. I was able to keep the old switch but for the failures it seems futile to replace something that broke with the same part over and over again. An over ride switch is my next step, one that controls the entire wiper circuit, as I Was driving in rainy weather and could not depend on my wipers to function reliably. Another dangerous possibility, why I hate Chrysler and their inability to address similar issues on these trucks.
Love the Cummins though, don;t get me wrong. The rest of the truck just needs attention often. Hope my ABS never acts up when I really need it.

I had the same problem. Fixed it by connecting the ground for the wipers to the neg battery terminal. Water gets into that area. Driver side fender just in front of the firewall. Fixed other gremlins too. Cleaning the connection only worked for a little while.

I found similar problem with my '06. took out the wiper motor itself, cleaned up all the contacts as found here in an earlier post. An easy fix, for me. Mine worked, not work, work, not park etc. Cleaned out all the contacts and everything has worked since. It did happen by the way in the winter time. Maybe water getting into the contacts and causing an a connection issue for the contacts. It's worth a look.
