I never noticed it before, but I was adding a set of those heavy springs to help hold the wipers on the glass at xx MPH and heard the wipers making a clunking noise. I lifted the plastic cover and found the cause was the linkage hitting the cover. Anybody else had this? I suppose the simple fix is bending the linkage so it doesn't hit. Any other ideas?

Oops, too late. What silencer ring? (More fun than my 98 SST)

You know I thought I heard mine making a similar noise - thought it was my imagination. It doesn't seem to be a consistent noise, however. I'm sure going to listen to it more carefully and will let you know. I haven't looked as yet, is it hard to get teh cowling off to inspect the problem?

Sometimes my wipers hit next to the drivers door at the top of their stroke, sometimes they don't hit. It doesn't seem to be doing any damage, so this is on the back burner right now.

Hmmmm... maybe that can be an excuse to get some A-pillar gauges... to hide the area the wipers hit... then the problem will go away, right?

I had this same noise on 2 '94 models and the '97 I have now! I found that when the wipers start making this slapping noise I just replace both blades ( not refills). The noise goes away. I studied this for a while because I thought the wipers were hitting the A-pillars or the arms or maybe even a bad wiper motor or linkage. I'm glad the new blades fix mine and I hope this helps some of you guys.
