That may not be what that is, But Just below the brake booster is an aluminum block-what would be the proportioning valve on anything else.

It has a wire with a yellow connector that plugs onto a switch in the valve.

It's damaged to the point that it will not reconnect and can't be repaired.

What is the wire and what does it do. I have no lights or codes because of it. It hasn't bothered anything in the year that i've had the truck, but it was there when I changed the fuel filter last week and I want to know what it is.

Thanks for any help.

My guess... if this is the same as the setup on my 2001. The aluminum block is the combination valve that feeds the brakes on all four wheels. The plug goes to the pressure differential sensor that detects when there is a pressure difference between the front brakes and the rear brakes which could signal a leak in one half of the system. If it detects a pressure difference, it lights the brake indicator in the dash to let you know there is a problem. I think it only passes current if the sensor is tripped, which is probably why you haven't noticed any lights or codes.
